Yeah, you're right. Flying your volleyball team on chartered 4,000 mile round trips is totally cool when you're rich as hell.

"student athlete welfare". and I am right thank you.

It is too bad we don't play North Carolina this year. If we did, we could sacrifice a sheep to the gods with our request for Big XII membership. 04-cheers

What does that mean?

Where we invited to a meeting to discuss ECU?

Did we write a strongly worded letter?

Did we put together a rap video and email it to them?

Means we sent our presentation to the appropriate Big 12 parties. Probably included a video similar to the "Undaunted" one.

A 130 slide Power Point presentation with lots of builds and embedded videos...

Worked for JT. Sadly Hammy isn't the idiot making this decision LOL

RE: ECU issues B12 Statement
We’ve paid our dues, won championships, beaten plenty of high profile, ranked P5 teams, and packed our stadium better than any other G5 program for decades. (With the exception of BYU)

We deserve to be in the Big 12 just as much (if not more) than most everyone else being mentioned.

Markets don’t matter… ask C-USA. They went for large media markets and it sank their league. You still have to have a product to sell.

The SEC thrives in well-known major media markets such as Tuscaloosa, AL.. Auburn, AL.. Starkville, MS.. College Station, TX.. Gainesville, FL.. Oxford, MS.. etc. All are internationally known centers of commerce, and have major international airports.

You can snicker all you want, but the fact is that ECU has been packing the house and beating major competition since before some of your schools even contemplated having a football program, much less competing at our level. There have been plenty of flashes in the pan among most AAC schools, but it has always been fleeting.

Why not us? I’m happy that our AD has made our pitch to the Big 12… now all we can do as fans is sit back and watch it unfold. If they are genuinely interested in finding programs that elevate their league, ECU must on that list. We have been doing so much more with so much less for decades… imagine what we could do with the backing of a P5 conference.

Exactly! This is about football----fan support, facilities, and game day atmosphere. ECU delivers all that as well or better than anyone. I think a major wild card in all this is entry into the Carolinas marketplace.

We give the Big12 a foothold in the heart of the ACC (a conference they are in direct competition with). NC is the 9th largest state now and growing fast. Having a team in the Carolinas could be a huge thing for an expanding league like the big12.

We've got a lot to sell. I'm just glad we a finally waking up and selling ourselves.

I'd love to see what ECU could do in the ACC. Them in the Big XII just feels wrong, but maybe that's my old SWC talking.

ECU in the BigXII would feel odd, no doubt. In the ACC ECU would put every other NC school to shame inside of 5 years. Outside of Wake's miracle year in 2006, it's been 27 years since another NC team won the ACC and that was Duke in 1989. The "football schools" UNC and NC State haven't sniffed an ACC football title in 35 years.

ECU doesn't fit well into any of the realistic P5 conferences. My dream scenario would be the SEC stealing the states of NC and VA by taking ECU and VT. It's the most unlikely, yet most natural fit for both schools and potential conferences. The football culture, fanbase, college towns, geography works well. Unfortunately VT doesn't bring enough to entice the SEC, so ECU obviously never will.

We've won 5 in a row against the ACC without actually being in the ACC and reaping those benefits. We would compete for the division within 5 years.

We earned our spot. ECU leached off us for years

Please, y'all were the candy**ses that filed for a restraining order to try and keep us out of CUSA. Scared much?

The whole thing has gone to hell.

I particularly like how corporate sponsorship of sports venues is somehow a bad thing when it comes to Louisville. Never understood why that was but it's amusing anyway. What is a Minges? My corporate thinking assumed your basketball gym was sponsored by a yeast infection medication.

But Dick Peniso is doing very well, thank you. The McGee thing was unfortunate but it will pass as all things do and we will carry on. I appreciate your concern.

All that said, we are lucky to have the most profitable college basketball program on the planet, a still growing football program, and a top 5 performer in both revenue generating sports this century. It won't stop anytime soon.

I honestly have no dislike for ECU. I loved our football rivalry in the mid-late 90s. I just wish your programs were more well-rounded, as I'm sure you do, so that the trip to Greenville didn't feel like your top 20 basketball team was going to play in a high school facility in the middle of nowhere.

I wish you "luck" and hope that you're blessed enough to have a Papa John's graduate from your school that is generous enough to support it passionately. Here's to ECU finding a home in the B12. 04-cheers

Yeah, thanks....we deserve to be in a P5 in my (biased) opinion. It's not that we need a Pappa John. We already have the support and a great stadium. We are in a state with 4 cartel members. That's ECU's biggest issue. BTW..Like the yeast infection medication joke....you seem ok to me. Take care.

Couldn't agree more and I'll add Nebraska and Maryland and Rutgers to the Big 10 seems wrong and Louisville and Pitt in the ACC feels wrong. This isn't a knock on those schools; it's simply not the same sport I've followed my entire life.

Cheers!
