I know we all want our school to get that ticket to the P5, but I gotta be honest the B12 looks like a hot mess just waiting to explode. Yes I know my school would take the invite if it came and so would all others.

I like the AAC and if wish we were making bigger money and have same access as P5 to playoffs I would rather stay. But that isn't happening.

With that said I do hope the league stays as strong as possible for my school if we don't get picked and for the rest of the schools that will stay.

Honestly if it is BYU and Houston I think that the AAC all of the sudden gets to stay strong and now with no active leagues looking to add we can sit and wait for the Big 12 to collapse without fear of a personal Armageddon it was looking like. Don't get me wrong I don't want to lose Houston but if it's anyone as a Temple fan dreading the Texas trips and loving having an eastern group selfishly it works out amazing

I agree. Big12 is looking desperate to the other leagues and wounded. Texas, OK and Kansas are prime for the picking. You know the Big10 and Pac12 are licking their chops right now. They have to be.

Boise already tried to rake us over the coals the first time we invited them, they aren't coming. BYU considers themselves too good for us.

That’s just the thing, it’s not going to stop at 12. The Big12 is the Big East Part 2. Their inability to make a collective decision, the knee jerk reaction moves based on the ACC announcing a network, right down to the power struggle of football vs basketball (in the Big East) and Texas vs the rest of the Big12 and Oklahoma in the Big12. It’s the same public speculation on which schools to choose, the inability to decide on which bring value and why, right down to the football only aspect, its history repeating itself. The Big12 suffers from a case of very weak leadership.

The Big12 will expand, most likely by 4 this time, but it also wouldn’t surprise me that just like the Big East, schools like Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and maybe even Oklahoma State one by one announce they have found new homes before the expansion teams even play a game in the Big12. Then just like the Big East the Big12 will be forced to backfill again.

My concern is that when it’s all finally over and the carcass of the AAC and MWC have been picked through, will there be anything left of value for the programs left behind to form a conference?

Not to be all doom and gloom, but IMO what happens with conference realignment over the next 5 years will determine the fate of every G5 football program.

If I could up your reputation for that post I would. When the idea of a football only membership came across the waves, it really smelled like Big East 3.0. Is Tranghese advising them, perhaps?
