With the required P5 opponent (neutral or home & home) and a brutal SEC schedule - Ole Miss should fill their final 3 scheduling slots with cupcake, HOME games. Makes no sense to do a home & home with one of those slots. Especially with an up-and-coming program like Memphis (Norvell is going to be a star) - where there is the added motivation of "rivalry". Even if the road game is 45 minutes away and has a large number of Rebel fans in the stands...too much risk. As they found out last year.

Now, if Memphis gets into the Big 12, I could see the series continuing. Allows Ole Miss to use that game as their P5 opponent, and comparatively speaking, that's an easier road than scheduling FSU, Cal, etc...if only because it is so close to home.

We shall see. Smart for Ole Miss ... irrelevant for Memphis. Memphis will have plenty of teams calling...

Bullshite, probation, suckiness. Swapping us for tulane or Chattanooga. Dont want that arse whipped.

Bye. Dont care. Yall reckt.

Not really sure what you're saying...

But what I'm saying is - yes...Memphis is too much of a risk for Ole Miss in football now. A) Tigers are good and going to be better B) Home & Home makes no sense when it can be replaced with a guaranteed home game vs. a cupcake team ...

Makes no sense for Ole Miss to continue that, unless they can use it as their P5 game. Even then...I'm still not sure it's a great idea for Ole Miss.

Memphis will be fine

Memphis will be fine

Build a wall around memphis. Plant a flag in memphis. Memphis biggest alum base, home game for black bears, memphis is black bear town. Hugh Freeze homecoming.

Ass gets obliterated.

Nothing to gain, not p5, dont need to play memphis

Gutless cycle been going on forever.
Black bears just need to admit they are afraid and about to be gutted by the ncaa. So easy.

A P5 Tiger team beating them constantly would kill their recruiting in the city.

There's never been anything to gain for OM. It doesn't help recruiting (OM doesn't compete against Memphis for recruits right now) ... it's just an easy game for the fans to attend. That's all fine & good when Memphis sucks...but when Memphis is good (they're only getting better and are going to be really good) it makes no sense anymore.

Call it what ya want, you're right to an extent...Ole Miss is "scared" to play Memphis. And they should be. Not enough upside.

And, yet, the Black Bears will be upset when we don't renew our series for basketball.

Yep...It is a game that is easy to travel to for they fanbase...That is a huge selling point and the reason they have always played the game...

As you say they don't want to risk a loss so they would rather not play the game.

You guys act like the Ole Miss game doses bring them in any more big booster money. I am sure it has in the past. Booked suites at CUSA prices could turn nice profits. That will be harder to do at Big XII prices.

Yup - whether the typical OM fan will admit it or not, Memphis is a risk. That means Memphis is good.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again...Norvell is going to be a star!

The black bears lost to jscksonville state before they upped their payroll. Every team they play is a risk.
