Epic bad timing though. 03-banghead

I think it was his brother, Oliver, that resigned

Yeah but, there's always hope. 04-rock

I'll ask again...didn't a "bad timing" incident happen to UCF right before it got extended a Big East invite?

If that did happen...and I think it did...IMO, this event won't make a difference either way.

Different circumstances. The Big East was much more desperate and UCF was the clear next addition. USF isn't the clear next addition in this situation.

We were never getting a Big 12 invite for our basketball program. Then again, they don't need good basketball programs.

When you look up "Bad Timing" in google, it will return this article.

Where's Mestophalies and mtmedlin?

I'm here. What's your issue? It's an investigation. Has anything come of it yet? There are numerous schools currently under investigation. This is just news because of the timing. I do admit, it is incredibly horrid timing but, their sources are all in Orlando. Go figure. 03-banghead

ucf playing chess usf was playing checkers

checkmate, 1 less team to worry about now to handle the other rivals ..time to end the ConFLiCT

What they don't understand is without USF, UCF doesn't get in. They just won't learn. 03-banghead

UCF will still get in. Just add Houston instead. It is hard to feel sorry for many USF fans that supported the GENSHAFT UCF subversion plan that kept UCF out of the BE. But I do think USF would be a better choice for demographics and a rivalry. A rivalry by the way that USF never would acknowledge. Karma can be a Biach. 05-stirthepot

I don't recall. Maybe a UCF fan can answer this. 04-cheers

No...there was just nothing "good" happening at the time...as the Big East (controlled by Basketball Schools in summer/early fall 2003) decide to invite all new members from CUSA...both all sport schools (Cinci, Louisville and USF), plus 2 basketball schools (Marquette and DePaul).

During the summer/early fall of 2003...UCF was still playing Olympic Sports, including basketball, in the lowly ASUN...and UCF was still playing in their small 4,600 seat gym...while USF was always in better basketball conf...as they also had the benefit of the state building them a 10,000 seat arena back in 1979-1980...something the state did not do for UCF.

When the Big East was deciding which team to invite that year...Football Only invites were discussed and UCF was a favorite in that category but after that idea was shelved...they went for the all-sports CUSA schools and the basketball schools from that same conf.

After the Big East made their invites to those CUSA members...UCF's football season (2nd year in MAC) fell apart...as a losing streak was maginified with then starting QB Schneider was caught forging permission slips for some of his professors...and was then kicked off the team...and then Coach K was fired with 2 or 3 games to go in the season.

Shortly after that...UCF accepted their first all-sport invite from CUSA to join in 2005.
