I guess you didn't the part of thread were it says the company only started gathering data 3 years ago. It would to read the thread first.

There are some misleading things because 3 years doesn't count some big games that ECU played OOC over the last decade, doesn't include the huge TV bonanza that Boise had vs Georgia & VT, DOES include Houston vs Florida St, Temple vs Penn St & Notre Dame. Also, your thread doesn't include the bit about the 3 year young source you are citing. You could have said in your thread that you were using a 3 metric for your tv rating thread because the source you are citing is only 3 years old. Many other sources are available that list tv ratings going back decades. I normally wouldn't go on like this but I always fight back when I'm insulted.
Cheers!

Sorry, I wasn't referring to any of your posts in particular but the subject in general. BillyBobby's bolded comments above showed maturity and class as opposed to the general tone in many ""we're leaving and you're not" threads that the OP clearly meant this to be.

I sure hope this isnt relevant for UConns sake.

USAToday Fan Index has Navy #1
Original TV viewer numbers have Navy #1
Bowlsby said football-only was in play
Been nice hanging out with y'all

Navy football would actually be very deserving. Would not be mad at that.

I don't actually see that happening. We have a real ceiling for recruiting and on field success. There was a lot of hand wringing about how we would fare against eight BCS Big East opponents + ND each year...even with our success in the American, our prospects against eight Big XII opponents every year is not enticing. Money is good, and the argument can be made that the Academy mission is enhanced by competing at the highest level possible....but...
I wouldnt rule it out - we are here in order to avoid being on the outside looking in when the next big change comes. I just see it as less likely that Navy going all in with the AAC to keep pace with the P5s, to win by not losing ground, in order to stay on the right side of College Football history.

7. UConn = 20M
8. Memphis = 14M
9. USF = 13M & SMU = 13M
11. Tulsa = 12M
12. Tulane = 5M

Based on this year's TV schedule with Houston playing OU on ABC in addition to three Thursday ESPN games, Houston should overtake UCF for 2nd.

Bottom line: Navy coming into the TV package negates, for example, the hypothetical loss of say: Cincy and UConn.

Took out the bowl games and re-ranked

1. Navy - 36.358
2. Temple -19.038
3. UConn - 17.6
4. ECU -15.25
5. UCF - 14.780
6. UH - 14.716
7. SMU - 13
8. Cincy - 12.674
9. USF - 11.848
10. MEM - 10.268
11. Tulsa - 8.584
12. Tulane - 2.93

Navy is the draw, no doubt. Temple and UConn both benefit from the NYC market (surprisingly since most say NYC is a pro town). UCF had 1/3 of its viewership in the bowl game against Baylor. Nobody else with a drastic hit except Tulan with lost 40% of total viewership when taking out their one bowl game, and UH losing roughly 1/3 on it's three bowl games.

I think Temple benefits from the market in which they are nested (Philly) and not NYC. UCONN has appeal in NYC IMO.

I posted this elsewhere and I will post it again here. UConn is one of the top 20 college sports teams based on revenue, attendance, and wins (and is the only G5 school who can make that claim).

Didn't a UConn fan state the initial link was no good because it was only 3 years, but this one is supposed to count since it's 1 year? Isn't it convenient for you your mens bball team just happened to win the Natl Champ the year this study was done....

In the same year your football team was horrible. Please don't think any of your revenue and popularity have anything to do with your football program, you can't be that naive. Just to prove that here is an article for the same year this study was done for you....http://www.courant.com/data-desk/hc-uconn-attendance-down-20141210-htmlstory.html

"*Top 20 teams chosen based on total 2014 revenue and average attendance for Football + Basketball"

I never said that it proved anything about *only* our football team. However, based on what you just said, wouldn't we have been even higher up in the Top 20 if our football team hadn't been horrible that year? Based on what you said, that is where logic points.

Anyway, it is apparent to me that ECU fans have "Tiny Wee Wee" syndrome when it comes to their football program. So, I will acquiesce to you all. I hereby proclaim that ECU football is an absolute powerhouse in comparison to UConn football and that UConn could never even attempt to be the football juggernaut that is ECU. ECU wins hands down. I hope that someday our football program can be as good as ECU (even though we slammed you 31-13 last year) and that our fans can be as good as yours. ECU is the best football school in the AAC. They have no peer.

Happy now?

Thank you, glad we got that out of the way. UConn sucks.

Thanks. ECU fans should feel free to tune in to our future Big 12 football games to help boost our TV numbers since, according to ECU fans, we apparently need the help. We appreciate your caring about us as much as you do.

We'll return the favor by tuning in to your games against ODU and Marshall.

In all seriousness, ECU does have a solid football fan base and program. It is unfortunate that your geography is hurting in this expansion process (as is ours to some degree).

I am just defending my school. People like to knock UConn football, but no school in the AAC puts more players in the NFL than UConn. I just get tired of people trying to slam the program when its health is way better than people think that it is.
