We've been replaced by Idaho State.

Not surprising since it was the first half of an H&H and there's no way Nevada is coming to Moscow after we drop down to FCS, but still very sad. We've had some good games with Nevada dating back to the old Big Sky and it would have been fun to get one more shot at them on a semi-level playing field.

Worst offseason ever.

Good move for Nevada. Didn't want to look ugly for taking the first home game and then canceling the series.

I get that Idaho is dropping to FCS but how does it help to pick up FCS Idaho State?

Exactly. The current scheduling agreement has Nevada coming to Moscow for a return game. No way they'll do that when we're FCS, so they needed to get out of the deal. I doubt there was any particular reason to replace us with Idaho State other than they had an open date and that was the easiest way to fill it.

I'll bet there backing out put a lot of cash in Idaho's pocket. I know that P5FBS/FCS contracts usually have a $600K buyout (at least JMU put's this in all our contracts with the bigboys) if a team backs out of the deal. I can only imagine that a G5FBS/G5FBS would be even more.

Could be a standard clause that mitigates this if something big...like a change in classification...comes up though, eh?
