OT-Dallas
Guys, I normally don't reach out like this, let people know what I do for a living or leave much of an online presence that can be traced to me or my family, but I really need all the support I/we can get.

After determining that broadcasting didn't offer much security or a future, I left the industry and eventually settled into a career in law enforcement, landing with Dallas.

I was working the BLM protest yesterday and was at the scene when we were ambushed by a guy whose sole purpose was to take me and my brothers and sisters out solely because we are white and wear a badge.

I literally saw this man gunning us down and my coworkers on the ground, likely dead. We ended up eliminating the threat he posed and w limiting innocent victims, but in the aftermath, we are all feeling a bit more exposed and vulnerable.

Any thoughts, prayers or well-wishes would greatly be appreciated. If you truly support us, thank any officer you see no matter where you are. We are all feeling increasingly isolated and "small" things like that have a huge impact. If you dont support us, I'm okay with that, but would like not to see it here.

Thank you all for your time.

Thank you for what you do. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your brothers and sisters in blue. Keep your head up and know that most of us are still thankful we have people willing to run towards danger instead of away from it.

From a purely Sports standpoint, I do enjoy yanking your UTA chain. . . . .

From a Professional standpoint, I tip my cap to you and all First Responders. It's a tough Gig, especially so these days. Thanks for your service, keep your head up, better days are ahead, though maybe not for your Mavericks . . . 04-cheers

RE: OT-Dallas
In times such as these I am always at a loss for words. I can only hope for healing of the pain from this tragedy.

It takes no effort from me to always thank police, firemen, EMTs, servicemen and others that put their life on the line for me.

Godspeed to you and yours and though a thank you is small consolation for all that do this daily, without question, it's what I have to give.

Take care

I did not know much about the Dallas police force before this tragedy, but after seeing the the civil and respectful interactions between the DPD and the BLM protesters before the shooting, as well as your response and handling of the public while in pursuit of the domestic terrorist, I have nothing but the utmost respect for you and your colleagues. You're all in my thoughts in what has to be an unimaginably difficult time.

I saw a video clip of a wedge of your people going directly at the guy into fire...with pistols...without any cover.

Yesterday your people reflected great credit upon themselves and upheld the highest traditions of law enforcement and the United States.

If it sounds like a Medal of Honor citation...well...it should.

As a father of a police officer I cringe when this kind news is made. So sorry for you and your comrades and all of your families. When she first started 11 years ago I never relaxed until I knew her shift was over. It's not as bad now but stories like this brings back those feelings.

There are only so many ways to say the same thing so let me start by just saying I agree with each and other previous post and I thank you so much for your service and sacrifice.

I will add, you have been victimized in a direct and personal way and that has a mental impact for sure. As a medically retired Iraq War veteran, I've seen things I will never understand and still haunt me sometimes to this very day, although not nearly as much as they did 10 years ago. With counseling and perhaps even medication it becomes easier and easier to deal with it.

I guess where I'm going with this, sir, is to highly encourage you and your brothers and sisters in blue to seek counseling because you most likely need it badly. It may not feel like it today but most likely you will begin to in the near future - best to start now (I speak from experience here). People have this stigma that a mental injury is somehow different than an arm or a leg injury. In all cases, medical professionals should be employed to fix that injury and those who dedicate themselves to healing themselves will prevail.

Again, thank you all for your service and PLEASE highly consider what I've said here.

RE: OT-Dallas
If whites are racist, why do we adore and financially support black athletes, black actors, black music, the musicians, black authors, and such outstanding black individuals like Ben Carson, Clarence Thomas, and Tim Scott? Why did we elect a black president TWICE if we are racist? Why has the racism not shown up against other ethnic groups if we were so inclined against minorities? Guess I'm confused.

Every profession has a percentage of bad apples, no one individual represents the whole and as a profession first responders have a lower "bad apple" ratio than most professions.

Thank you for what you do to keep ALL LIVES safe.

I concur. I'm familiar with the PTSD...my father is a veteran of Korea and Viet Nam. He still has some nightmares, but the counseling and group sessions have done him a world of good. I have a healthy respect for any and all members that serve...all.

RE: OT-Dallas
Thank you guys. The support has been overwhelming from all over the world. We have always known we are supported by the silent majority who recognize the job we do is difficult, necessary and not for everyone. Woke up feeling the best I have in a while. Heard the news about what's going on in Baton Rouge and a fear is realized that this is just the beginning. Your continued support will be vital.

Thanks again to everyone, even the ones who have anti-police views, as you honored my request to keep it out of the thread.
