For years the Battle Creek Balloon Fest has tried to generate more interest in the greater Kalamazoo community.
This event is ignored by many and yet it is visible from the WMU Aviation Campus.

Looks to me they hit a home run this year getting an individual that is guaranteed to draw media attention.

20+ years ago Balloon Fest was a huge deal in this area.

Then it just died out because of natural causes (same ol', same ol' and next generation wasn't into it).

Yes, the individual will draw media attention - unless the media is MLive.

Because nobody is reading it online or subscribing to print edition any more.

But it'll be on his twitter, Facebook, etc.!

Why does it have to be either-or?

The perspective is he was hired, and given all the tools, to win MAC championships and bowl games.

THAT's the fun of CFB at D-I level.

How does his once again being in media for something nothing to do with winning games accomplish that?

If the worst thing our coach does is self promote, we're in good shape. Beats Arkansas with Petrino, Baylor's Art Briles and indifference toward women, a kid dying in a windstorm at ND while filming practice, Rick Patino having sex in a restaurant bathroom and too many countless things to keep track of. Yeah, a little self promotion is pretty tame.

That would be such an awesome experience to fly with the Thunderbirds.

Nothing in that ad points to WMU, to WMU Football, or to his team. It's all about promoting PJ Fleck. It rubs me wrong. Brian Kelly has had decades of success at numerous levels, yet I've never seen him self promote.

You may be right about Brian Kelly not self-promoting. On the other hand, I have never seen a kid die in a wind storm on a tower while filming practice under Fleck's watch.

Regarding Pitino, I think he actually had his "15 seconds of sex" fame in a restaurant booth (after hours) rather than in a bathroom.

PJ could cure cancer and some here would spin it negatively... Is what it is.
