They gave us too much credit and Idaho not enough.

Nice someone actually gave ULM credit.

I have not looked but I am guessing the Red Wolves are third again? It is a tradition.

Based off last year flip Idaho and GS and its right. Go off roster and potential it is dead on as we will likely be one or two in most talented roster in the Sun Belt overall but it is young.

Bingo.

All I can think about when reading a preseason Sun Belt poll...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3flv5nWZgII

Lowered expectations...

This is probably the closest to how I would rank the SBC. I have no issues with this.

I looked at it and my first thought was they had GS too high and Idaho too low but if (and it's a big if) we can get it together on offense we could finish in the top 4.

Right now without us even close to sniffing fall camp I would rank the SBC in four tiers with any of the teams in those tiers being pretty close to tied.

12. NMSU
11. Texas St
10. Coastal
------------
9. GSU
8. USA
7. ULM
------------
6. ULL
5. GS
4. Idaho
------------
3. Troy

ULM and Coastal will surprise a lot of people. ULM showed some real improvement even if it didn't always translate to wins. Coastal is woefully underrated and is suffering from the myth of the division gap. Running Chadwell's option offense will erase that gap notion entirely if you ask me. Few of us outside of APP STATE can stop option offenses.

I really like your four tier system. Though I think you could qualify the Top 5 you have listed as "good" teams. Those would be my five picks for bowls eligibility. I'm curious as to what ULL has coming back and if they can improve and get back to 8-4. USA is another big question mark for me. No clue how they'll end up.

Thanks I tried to put teams together that I thought would be close but Coastal, ULM and USA are really hard to figure out this early although I'm pretty certain that ULM will be much improved from last year. Ultimately I put ULL in tier 4-6 because they have been good for at least 5-8 wins for a long time now so I find it hard to move them lower.

RE: CFN 2017 SBC Rankings
Our key games are against UL and the Cajuns on the road at the end of the year. Win both of those and I think we'll be 4th at worst.

I also think we'll get one of App, Ark State, and Troy.

I just don't see ULL having a good year. They lost all world RB and Jordan Davis isn't going to cut it at QB. I watched the kid play in HS and never thought that highly of him.

I think he started vs Troy in the season closer back in 2015. He, or whoever was at QB that night, had a rough time.

From what I saw of ULM and ULL last year, I like ULM to be the better of the two this year.

I think it's a wash, but ULM is certainly improved.

RE: CFN 2017 SBC Rankings
ULM returns so many on both sides, have added some high level JUCOS, and RB Derrick Gore, who transferred from Alabama and scored a TD in the SEC championship game, is supposedly a BEAST. Have a hard schedule, but I could still see a bowl and possible championship in '18.

I would agree with this for the most part. The only things I would say is that Coastal (IMO) is a complete wild card. They could come out flat, like many that make the jump do, or they could come out and shock a lot of people. There's just no way to know exactly what's going to happen there. And as for GS, we're either going to be around 4th, or somewhere around 8th. No way to know.

I think the nature of Coastal's offense alone is going to cause problems for a lot of us. I'm not sure where to put them either.
