UCF has finished in the top 3 since the inception of the rankings out of 12 state universities in Florida. As a result, UCF got $14.7M from the state this year. The criteria includes metrics such as graduation rates, which have always been higher than S. Florida's.

...and the year before USF was number one on the list. Let's be honest here....$14 million is a drop in the bucket. Even with the performance based "bonuses" Florida lags well behind most of the country in funding higher ed. It's really a shame b/c every year SUS school loses great up and coming faculty to other states.

S. Florida was 2nd last year and 2nd the year before. They've yet to rank first.

If you care to compare overall funding both public and private, id gladly do so anyday. Considering that we are now at $940 million into our $1 billion fund raiser, UCF couldnt even sniff where we are at.

Like I said, UCF is a fine school, but trying to compare is silly. You are wanting to brag about $14 million in state funding... USF beat you in research funding alone by over $300 million. So ya, enjoy that whopping victory.

No need to get insecure. This is about state funding and you respond with an off-topic number about some private fundraiser. What? lol.

UCF is doing what it can to maximize its strengths and squeeze out as much state funding as it can. There's nothing wrong with that. It's no secret that S. Florida lags in graduation rates. It's something they've been struggling with for quite some time but ultimately, they are improving and that's what really matters.
