First junior day for the 18' class being held today. Tariq Reid a big time RB out of Davison who is already offered was there. Looks like we offered Jaylan Franklin, an athlete out of Gibraltar as well. Both of these guys are well sought after already.

Well, we're in the slow period of the off-season so here's something interesting.

Kalon Gervin from Cass Tech already has 35 FBS offers. And it's only February of his junior year.

Also, 9 players from Cass Tech signed with FBS programs on NSD. 2 more signed with FCS programs. 5 went to lower divisions. What a powerhouse program Cass Tech has turned into. So much talent there.

A number of area kids have transferred to CT for football. They are the perennial powerhouse out of the D. And academically it is a very good school. Someone on An M blog just brought up a possible ban of LSU coaches in NOLA because of a similar to OSUs Mike Weber -recruit, sign & bail. Interestingly OSU has not pulled a top recruit out of the D since. The PSL coaches won't soon forget it.
Iowa also seems to have a nice pipeline from Detroit East English Village.

It's a slow period for us. Not for other teams. Look at the number of prospects according to Scout (a lot of which are offered, or at least interest so there's been contact) that Toledo, BG, Ball State, N. Illinois, etc...have compared to WMU for 2018. And in WMU's case, most of those 2018 prospects that were offered were from Fleck. What has our new staff offered? Like 3 guys?

Wonder how many 2017 offers Fleck had out at this point last year....

To be fair the rest of college football has been recruiting 2018 kids the entire month of January. Our staff has been up and down the Eastern and Central time zones to cobble together a solid 2017 class in under a month. When we were securing commits the last couple weeks Eastern was hosting high school juniors. That is a luxury not had this cycle. If we were bringing in high school juniors at that time we would be livid that nobody was working last minute recruits and this class would've suffered.

Beat MSU in EL and it'll do wonders for recruiting.

The staff is still settling in. We'll be fine.

People forget our staff has personal lives, too.

They have to find a home/apartment, move their families, find churches, schools, doctors, day care, etc.

You are right, WMU will be fine for the 2018 class. Let our new coaches get settled into our community. And if you see them, please welcome them.
