RE: Best Pastner moment?
When hoopdreams posted that GT might be getting desperate I was thinking it was fools gold. When I heard that Pastner wasn't returning calls or no one could reach him, that let me know that GT was about to become my second favorite school. When he walked in for the interview at GT, that was the single best moment for any Tiger fan.

All other moments are fighting for second place to the moment he left for GT.

Here is my nomination for second place:

This isn't even being snarky but him leaving out of nowhere is by far his best moment. We were locked in to several years of terrible, expensive basketball and a fanbase that had lost hope. Him basically walking away from his contract was the only hope we had of turning things around, or at least avoiding the pit we were about to fall into. By far his most impactful moment.

Guys, have to be very mindful on this possession.

Dixon, I want you to throw it back over your head about the lengths of two energy buses.

Geron, catch it at the split line and draw the defenders into the paint, so you can pass it back out to Chris.

Chris, be sure you have both feet in - you have to be both feet in - then fake the shot fake and go ahead and pass it to Shaq.

Shaq, you need to trail the play, when Chris makes the pass, you jump into outer space and convert the law of averages dunk shot.

Everyone got it? Alright, gather in...golly geewhiz Tigers on 3.

I hope some of y'all get over it soon.

He turned out to be a crappy coach but there WERE a few good moments.

I was very proud of this team winning the CUSA tournament on UTEP's home court after being crushed there a few weeks earlier.

It was a great moment there just weren't enough of them.

->Offering a scholarship to DJ Stephens. Going to losing games was even fun, just to see one of his awesome dunks or blocks.

"Stephens was not a highly regarded recruit out of Harker Heights High School when he was offered a scholarship by Memphis coach Josh Pastner. By his senior year at Memphis, however, he had become a crowd favorite for his spectacular dunking and blocking abilities. In 2011–12, he won the Intersport's Dunks of the Year title for a dunk against Xavier on February 4, 2012."

Problem really was...his coaching got worse instead of better. I dunno why, but it did.

RE: Best Pastner moment?
Is the UTEP win really a Pastner moment?

According to some of the resident geniuses on the board, the coach can't make the players make shots, so when the players DO make shots...isn't it really their glory, not the coaches?

Shouldn't the UTEP win therefore be a Joe Jackson or Chris Crawford or Tarik Black moment?

Or maybe...just maybe...the resident geniuses were always making excuses for the guy while throwing the players under the energy bus.

Maybe.
