Former Memphis QB Paxton Lynch agrees to $9.5 million deal with Denver
The Denver Broncos' No. 1 pick and former Tigers quarterback Paxton

By Tom Schad of The Commercial Appeal

Former University of Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch has agreed to a four-year contract with the Denver Broncos worth approximately $9.5 million, The Commercial Appeal has confirmed.

Lynch, who was selected No. 26 overall in the first round of April's NFL draft, will sign the deal later this afternoon.

The deal includes a signing bonus of $5,091,860, according to Channel 9 News in Denver, and a fifth-year team option that can be exercised after his third professional season.

Salaries for rookie contracts are largely pre-determined based on the league's salary cap and the draft slot at which each individual player was selected.

Lynch's agent, Leigh Steinberg, posted on Twitter that he was flying to Denver to finalize the contract, which will include "charitable giving."

Friends in Denver say they love him up there. He's on the front page of the sports section nearly every day.

RE: Paxton Lynch
Seems a little low for a 5 year deal to be the star QB, no? Must have a reeval clause after a year or two.

Oh, and...THREAD TITLE OF THE YEAR candidate.

I think it was a 4 year deal. And the dude was a late 1st rounder, those are always quite a bit less ever since rookie pay scales were renegotiated a few years back after the Jamarcus Russell debacle.

The money covers 4 years. It's an option for the 5th - which would add money to the contract.

It's a pay slot. Not a lot of negotiating these deals for rookies any longer. This is comparable to what the #19 pick got in 2015. So a bump up in 2016 for Paxton.

Under the new CBA their is a rookie max per you graft range it's the most he could have made but the big thing is 3 years are fully guaranteed and year 4 is 600k guaranteed. Also made donations to his church, High School, and Memphis football program.

It's playing great in Colorado . Full page photo of Lynch.

Now , the Tigers in Colorado need to get that alumni organization going and find a great place to gather to see Bronco's games. It's gonna be fun.

GO BRONCOS.... GO PAXTON! !

Russel Wilsons first contract was 4 years for 3 Million, it is not that unusual
