CBS: Expansion worth 1 Billion to Big 12 Texas vs 1 billion
Big Bucks for Expansion
Also reports of expansion additions will take a lesser share.
To be decided by end of summer.

I'll believe it when we play our first B12 game.

Of course it is, relatively speaking. The point is, it will still have the same effect on the AAC roster.

Those teams aren't leaving the ACC to become Texas' female dog unless several other key teams left the conference first.

Maybe Texas goes to the ACC and headline it with Notre Dame.

I cannot imagine Fox and ESPN are clamoring to pay MWC/AAC/BYU teams 3 to 8 times what they currently do.

RE: CBS: Expansion worth 1 Billion to Big 12 Texas vs 1 billion
I already posted this in the Texas AD thread, but I will repeat here, since it applies to the thread topic.
Technically, if the numbers are purely pro rata, the 4 new schools don't add value per team if everything is divided equally. It will add value for the 10 incumbents by allowing them to give the 4 new schools a lesser share and keep quite a bit of the money for themselves.
Let's say there is a new pool of $92 million per year that is created ($23 million X 4 schools) and that the new schools come in at 50%/50%/75% in the first 3 years. Here is the revenue that would be retained by the incumbents.
Year 1 - $46 million
Year 2 - $46 million
Year 3 - $23 million
CCG - $240 million ($30 million X 8 years)
Total $355 million
This equals $35.5 million total per existing school, which equals an extra $4.438 million per year per school
And there is nothing to stop the new teams from volunteering to come in at a much lower rate for a couple of years, for example, which would add millions more, per current B12 team.
This also doesn't account for the FedEx marketing pledge (beyond the CCG), which is reportedly substantial, and any revenue the new teams would earn for bowl games and NCAAT appearances.
It also doesn't include a bump in pooled Tier 3 rights, once they untangle the current contracts.
Finally, Dennis Dodd stated last night that the B12 could re-open negotiations beyond the current contract, extend a number of years with a GoR, and pull in even more money.

They are if it makes financial sense for them. Adding 4 teams adds 40% to their inventory of Big 12 games.
ESPN ran all these preliminary numbers months ago, and the consultants are confirming them.
And a Big12N would get ESPN out from under the LHN, and give them a shot at making more money (they are losing money now) with a full conference available, vs. one team.

If they agreed to those terms in the contract, it is what it is. B12 can simply exercise their right to expand and the networks would be bound to increase the payout accordingly. B12 has the leverage. They can then talk about extensions of the GOR and other issues in order to get even more of an increase than the guaranteed $1B increase.

Right. So the Big12 says, screw you TV partners, we're adding these teams you don't value and forcing your hand to pay more and then we're going to turn around and come back to the table and try and leverage more money for a new contract with those same TV partners...

Big 12 will add Va Tech, Louisville, Virginia, and Cincy.
ACC will add ECU, Memphis, UConn, and Temple.
AAC will likely add UMass, ODU, and 1-3 others.
