Texas-OU football game to air on FS1

Quote:Fox/FS1, which shares the conference’s top-tier broadcast rights with ABC/ESPN, had the first choice of Big 12 games for this Oct. 8, and picked UT-OU. But even though FS1 has made a push in recent years to be a major player in college sports, the move from ABC likely ensures this year’s Longhorns-Sooners game will be seen by fewer people.

Last year, FS1 earned its highest rating and viewership for a college football game in the network’s history when it attracted a 1.73 rating and 2.8 million viewers to a Utah-Michigan game. In comparison, last year’s UT-OU game on ABC drew a 3.3 rating and 4.99 million viewers.

According to Nielsen estimates in 2015, ABC was available in about 113 million homes, compared to about 85 million for FS1.
