I live in Houston, and have traveled through San Marcos a couple times.

My suggestion would be to make the short trip over to Austin and make fun of the hippies.

Got in late tonight due to crappy weather in Houston and just overall bad Texas drivers.
Decided to hit Taproom because they seemed like a place that would be open late that still served food. Really good. And great beer selection. Best part of all: got 3 pints, sandwich, and fries. $21 before tip. We were amazed. Every pint we had was $4 or less. This place must really cater to a younger, more cash-strapped demographic, but still thanks for the suggestion. We loved it.

Taproom is great. Good choice.

Go to Herbert's today. Get an Anthony's deluxe.

Left it up to the other two in the group to decide out of Herbert's and Garcia's for dinner tonight. Went to Garcia's. It wasn't bad, but I'm wishing now that I would have taken your advice and went to Herbert's.

If you want good breakfast tacos either go to Lolita's or go to the Exxon station next to Gumby's Pizza.

Didn't make it to Herbert's, but we did float the river and had a drink and grub at Tap Room. All were great suggestions.

Also did a little tailgating in the lot past right field. Met a few of UL pitcher's parents, which was pretty neat. Found the port-a-potty behind the RF fence. Thanks for that.

Will likely be back in the area for the football game in October, so will hopefully do more of these activities on that trip.
