TV Deal Official: ESPN/CBS/ASN/BeIN
http://pilotonline.com/sports/college/ol...b2974.html

Quote: ASN will televise 15 football games, beIN Sports 10, the CBS Sports Network 6 and ESPN 5, sources said.

Quote: Rights fees paid to the league are expected to drop significantly from the $14 million per year guaranteed by Fox and CBS Sports five years ago to perhaps $5 million. Media outlets report that CBS Sports rights fees dropped from $7 million to $1 million.

Looks like a lot of ESPN3, but that part may not be announced today.

Quote:ESPN will send consultants to all 14 C-USA schools to, as one official said, "coach all of us up" on how bring their production levels up to ESPN standards. The schools will be expected to pay production costs.

Quote: Cable TV network beIN Sports previously announced a "multi-year" agreement with Conference USA that calls for it to broadcast 10 football, 10 men’s basketball and 10 women’s basketball games this season.

beIN Sports will also will become the primary outlet for C-USA non-revenue sports, televising 12 baseball, 12 softball, 10 volleyball, 10 men’s soccer and 10 women’s soccer games.

RE: Tv Deal to be Announced Today
Quote:ESPN has agreed, in essence, to replace the Conference USA digital network and broadcast most league contests on ESPN3 not already being televised on conventional networks.

TimeWarner in Charlotte has multiple ESPN extra channels, which, if I recall correctly, carry ESPN3 broadcasts. If that is the case, it means just about every CUSA game will be on local cable.

Even if that isn't the case, they'll still be on ESPN3.

The money sucks, but that is awesome exposure.

I like the ESPN 3 deal because all games broadcasts are archived and can be seen in their entirety on demand.

One of the Five ESPN games will be the Rice-Baylor game, which has been moved to Friday September 16th.

Hopefully we can beat the rapists.

Those are most likely College Extra channels (old Gameplan and Fullcourt). Last year, they picked up all AAC games that fell past NEWS and would have been relegated to streaming only...mostly FCS IIRC. It'll be a good place to check if a particular game is announced as ESPN3.

Thanks for the answer. If those games are in at least 720p, that is very good news at least locally.

Here's the ESPN release. WKU at Marshall is the Saturday game, time TBA (Thank you for not moving to Black Friday, might actually make it this year!)

It's 5 regular season games, plus the conference title, for 6 total broadcasts.

If my math is correct:
ESPN - 5 + Championship = 6
CBS Sports - 6
ASN - 15
Bein - 10

37 football games set for broadcast. And ASN could get 15 more games.

I wonder if switching over to primarily ESPN3 will free CUSA schools up for more desirable kickoff times?

Fewer Noon kickoffs in the august heat in the south...? More night games?

So that's a max of 52. CUSA schools have a total of roughly 84 home games. Im assuming the other 32 or so games will go to local TV and ESPN-3? If so, the ability to access these games will go way up. ESPN-3 would also be a huge improvement for fans trying to follow CUSA basketball. No reason every single game wouldn't be available there (as long as they are not on another network). Any word as to whether ASN games will be mirrored on ESPN3?

I miss the old days before TV and ESPN ruined it. WSAZ would televise all Marshall games. I'd give anything for a Keith Morehouse/Sonny Randle broadcast.
