I think Liberty would be competitive in the Belt and would bring a great fanbase and excellent facilities.
I don't care that they're religious. Or that they're private. Lots of great schools are both. (I got my undergrad education at one, in fact.)
I don't like some of the political moves they've made (e.g. the Falwell-Trump connection that was mentioned), but I recognize that there are many who think that universities as a whole are left-wing cesspools, so I can excuse some action on the right.
I'm a biologist, though, and I still think it's irresponsible the way some fundamental ideas of the subject are approached there. Perhaps even if I were a scientist in a different field, I might feel differently. However, the fact that big-picture biology at Liberty is thought of as a joke by so many other scientists I know makes me not want to have my school associated with them.
Again, maybe if I were in a different field, it would be different. But I'm not, and until that fix is made (and I'm sure it will take some time for an understanding of the change to be felt outside of the university itself), I don't see myself wanting to add them.
