These would be among the best in the SBC. It's not a dig at other schools but saying they don't have the facilities is mind boggling.
These aren't sports facilities that would be use by other teams. They're facilities for their own students.

I am aware, still, they are facilities. Which would be some of the nicest. Their baseball stadium is awesome, the vines center is large, Williams stadium is a nice football stadium. I just don't see how some can say their facilities wouldn't be, at least, top third of the SBC.

The Sun Belt/any other conference doesn't need facilities. They need winners. When you buy something do you buy it for the package it comes in or the content of that package? They dump a whole lot of money into the program with little to show for it. For that reason I can not support them.

I understand you need winners but to say Liberty couldn't compete is just as close minded as saying facilities don't matter. They have beaten Georgia State, which was a bowl team last year, and an App team that would have gone to a bowl if there wasn't a ban. Sure it might look good to rack up a bunch of wins but they have beat some of the better teams in the league currently. Let's not forget they have beaten Coastal in their prime as well. I'm not saying add Liberty, I just don't see how you guys constantly bash them. I could understand it if it were just a religious thing.

I am glad CCU has the opportunity to move into FBS and continue to move up and improve. It is great for their school and their fans. It hopefully will be good for the SBC. At the very least it gives you a great early season road trip to vacation. It makes no sense to me when you hope for failure of a university or athletic program that you have no relationship with or rivalry against. If a university shows a commitment and desire to play at the highest level, they should be afforded that opportunity. Hopefully things work out for CCU and the SBC. Best to you both. Hopefully we get our shot some day. I know I am just as ready as the school is. I hope the whole stadium expansion/finance thing works out for CCU. It sucks when you feel like politics/others are standing in the way of your success or commitment to growth.

For whatever reason, it appears fashionable to trash Liberty. Seems this stems from a few posters that stayed on subject long enough to gain converts. My guess is it stems from some political or religious disagreement against Jerry Falwell decades ago. From all I know of the school, it's campus and sports facilities are very nice. I would like to know from those here just what it is that turns them off about Liberty. Is it connected to academics, politics, religion, or other?

Their idiot president endorsed Trump early on in the campaign, and then dragged the Christian faith through the mud by vehemently defending all his horrible life choices.

Falwell (Liberty's president) was his number 1 surrogate to the Christian community. Many of us saw through the charade. Unfortunately, some did not.

In my opinion, this decision by Falwell was a special kind of evil.

As a Christian (not even as a Coastal fan), I was deeply disturbed by his decision to support trump.

Since the 1980s, the message coming from leaders in the evangelical movement, as well as many in mainline denominations, has gone something like this:

1) Look at candidates' platforms.

2) Determine which has the most views that align with my interpretation of the Bible.

3) Determine which has the most views that oppose what I deem to be Biblical principles.

4) Now, throw all that away and just vote for whoever says they're pro-life. Actually, you can just skip to this step.

I think Liberty would be competitive in the Belt and would bring a great fanbase and excellent facilities.

I don't care that they're religious. Or that they're private. Lots of great schools are both. (I got my undergrad education at one, in fact.)

I don't like some of the political moves they've made (e.g. the Falwell-Trump connection that was mentioned), but I recognize that there are many who think that universities as a whole are left-wing cesspools, so I can excuse some action on the right.

I'm a biologist, though, and I still think it's irresponsible the way some fundamental ideas of the subject are approached there. Perhaps even if I were a scientist in a different field, I might feel differently. However, the fact that big-picture biology at Liberty is thought of as a joke by so many other scientists I know makes me not want to have my school associated with them.

Again, maybe if I were in a different field, it would be different. But I'm not, and until that fix is made (and I'm sure it will take some time for an understanding of the change to be felt outside of the university itself), I don't see myself wanting to add them.

Congratulations and good luck in FBS. I think we'll be fine as we are now. Perhaps Liberty can get some sort of arrangement with UMass and NMSU for a bowl slot.

It has zero to do with anything. Part of my objection to Liberty is the politics but they've endorsed or supported everyone from Ted Cruz to Trump so they're just doing what they do.

Why on earth are you guys on the schedules of some belt schools anyway? Those that did so, were doing y'all a favor btw.
