You don't get local stations over the air in HD?

Didn't want to risk losing the signal in the 4th quarter due some fray storm. The stream was perfect.

As a cord cutter I use a combo of sling and Kodi. I've been very happy with this setup as there is nothing I can't see. There is one exception and that is the quality of NFL games on kodi which are usually garbage. For the NFL I pay a one-time fee of $25 for the whole year at nfl2go and enjoy every game in HD. It's basically a rebroadcast of NFL ticket.

This thread should really be restricted to legal forms of cable cutting or at least disclose the legality of what you're proposing. Just my opinion.

Another possible avenue for CBS Sports Network is Google's streaming service, YouTube "unplugged", launching soon apparently.

I agree and I don't know what liability the user has knowing you're getting pirated tv. Not the ecu kind either.

RE: Cutting the cord and AAC Sports.
I recently cut the cord as well. I went with DirecTV Now when they were running their special promo for $35 a month. I payed 3 months up front and got a free Apple TV (which is really nice). I have not missed paying over $120 for DirecTV service at all. All together, satellite and internet I was paying almost $200 a month, and now it is down to about $70 a month.

Be warned... DirecTV Now is new, and still working out the kinks. But that free Apple TV made it worth the issues. I have not had as many issues as some people have reported, streaming live shows works almost flawlessly for me. VOD is choppy. And they do not currently have a DVR service, but I am sure it is coming.

RE: Cutting the cord and AAC Sports.
Xfinity Internet (limited to this or AT&T in Memphis) - $55 a month for 75mbps + nationwide Xfinity wifi hotspots. The cap is something like 1000 GBs a month but I've never used more than like 300. Can stream on 3 or 4 devices at a time with no problem, plenty fast for gaming while streaming on other devices as well.

Sling TV - $25 a month for Sling Orange + Sports Package (all ESPNs, no CBS or Fox Sports). They have an additional package that includes FS1 and FS2 and some more channels for like $40. I got the Roku 2 when they ran the promo to pay for 3 months in advance to get it free. Has apps for Sling TV, Playstation Vue, WatchESPN, Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Spotify, Pandora, etc. I also tried the Playstation Vue trial and it seems to have more channels for the $$$. You can also run Sling TV and Playstation Vue on your Android and laptop. Not sure about Apple as I am not a fan, but surely they have these apps also.

Netflix - $10 a month (can watch on laptop, Android, Roku, Xbox 360 and newer, Playstation 3 and newer, etc)

Hulu - $8 a month (can watch everywhere you can with Netflix)

Youtube Red - $10 a month (no ads, this is all my wife watches)

Liger HDTV Antenna - $20 total for free local channels (link is for 50 mile range antenna, may need more range if further from large cities)

I've had Kodi (completely free) for about a month on my laptop and Android phone and have discovered you can get just about everything on the Exodus and Phoenix TV add ons that you can on Netflix and Hulu so I'm going to cancel those as soon as I have a streaming box to watch these on my tv. I haven't done much research on them but have seen some as cheap as $40. Sports Devil is supposedly good for watching live sports streams but I haven't had much luck with them on my laptop or phone so hopefully this will work better on a streaming box.

I'm also about to drop Sling TV as I can watch any tv shows and movies on Kodi for free. Will use a friends login for WatchESPN (cheating I know, but if they want to stop this without government coercion they need to limit the number of logins. Sling does this so the technology is available). I just go to a friends house or Buffalo Wild Wings when we play on CBS Sports Network.

That's currently $108 a month but when I cut Sling, Netflix, and Hulu it will be about $65 a month.

This is silly especially when fully legal alternatives are available.

Okay, what I want to know is, if I have Sling TV and the Channel Master+ DVR, and I'm watching Archer (for example) on FX, can I pause and rewind the show? The Channel Master+ website intimates that it can only do that with OTA programming. Seams to me it ought to be able to do that with anything that is coming through the DVR - OTA, streaming TV service, whatever.

Playstation Vue is the only one that DVR's (I believe). The cool part it dvr's in the cloud, so that dvr box that draws like $30 bucks a month of electricity will be gone.

First off, I'd check to see if PS Vue or Sling offer locals in your area. If they do, there's no reason to set up an antenna or get a DVR, because all that will be handled by the service. In Atlanta, PS Vue carries CBS and Fox. Plus it incorporates ABC and NBC On-Demand content into the app. So even though I have an OTA DVR I rarely check it's content or use it now. You wouldn't be able to tell this from the website what they have in your area, you just need to sign up for a trial and see what's available.
Also you don't need to worry about content on non-local channels, PS Vue does the dvr for channels like FX in the cloud. So pausing live, rewinding, or watching something from an hour ago (if you have it set to record) all just works through the app.

This all sounds like it's set up to "sit down and watch something in particular."
I like to end my day with just siting back and channel surfing through the channel guide. "Oh, that looks interesting. I'll watch Frasier until a commercial, and then I will switch over to Family Guy until a commercial, then back to Frasier, or Archer, or Good Eats, etc. etc." Or sometimes (actually, most times) I find something about 6:00pm I'm interested in, pause it, and go fix dinner, then comeback and the family sits down and watches while we eat, and I FF through the commercials.
I've experienced what it's like to watch 6 seasons of a tv show from NetFlix through ChromeCast, and it was a PITA to pause (or heaven forbid, rewind, because it had to re-load).

Would this live-streaming TV be any different than that?

ETA: we RARELY watch locals. Mostly if there is bad weather. I'm sure an OTA antenna would be fine for that purpose.

There's a guide and you can do exactly what you are talking about, channel surf, pause live, etc. You can also add shows to your favorites (like fraiser, archer, etc) and if any of those ever came on in the past 2 weeks they'd be there for you to watch (pause, FF, rewind, whatever).

An antenna works fine, plus I have a personal DVR (Magnavox). There is also the option of the USTVNow app, which works on my Roku box even though it advertises it's for overseas vets. I tried it but don't actually use it now since I do have an antenna. Here is the link for it --> http://watch.ustvnow.com/guide

My wife insist on Lifetime and Hallmark, so for $2 a month I pay for the Feeln app.
