Um...so how would him scoring against the U.S. not make him a traitor then, stupid? 05-stirthepot

In all seriousness, it was a beautiful goal and it is interesting that FIFA has more members than the United Nations through examples like this of territories of other countries having their own national teams.

That's pretty traitorous.

Good for Betancur. That match was a glorified practice for both squads.

The UK has four teams by itself - England, Wales, Scotland, and Norhern Ireland. Plus Gibraltar just joined FIFA.

To further complicate matters, they play as Great Britain in the Olympics.

Which is even more muddled by the fact that team Great Britain includes athletes from Northern Ireland, which isn't on the island of Britain.

Fun fact - athletes from N. Ireland can also compete for the Republic of Ireland because they are automatically offered dual citizenship if they choose.

Other than 2012 when the Olympics was in London, Great Britain doesn't send soccer teams to the Olympics. The other Home Nations(Scotland, Wales, and N. Ireland) are scared that they'd lose their FIFA status eventually if the precedent was set. In the end, only the Welsh and English FA's sent players to the 2012 Olympics.
