It's like that humble startup that keeps getting better. That academic center was a nice addition to create a partial facade

It is a nice addition to the outside of the stadium...as it replaced a tiny ticket office that was rarely ever used (main one is on the other side of the stadium)

Best part of having your own facilities...you can basically do anything you want to them...and many won't look the same in just a few decades. ( Heck, most P5 stadiums were initially built in the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's....yet most don't look like anything at all compared to what they initially did).

Sure its the largest in the G5 now, but when you jump conferences it will just be middle of the pack in the P5.

In the Big 12, only Texas, Oklahoma, and Baylor would have larger video boards.

Not bad company to be with.

Memphis is also the exclusive tenant though and the video board* was donated for the UofM. It is almost like saying that USC doesn't control Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum haha

*Ranked 18th largest in the country now

Not really...especially since the LA Coliseum is located across the street from USC's campus (Liberty Bowl is approx 3 miles from the center of Memphis campus).

Plus USC DOES control the LA Coliseum (since July 2013), as USC is spending $270 Million to renovate the Coliseum.

[Image: The-Scholarship-Club-Tower.jpg?itok=aF6YT7OU]

Obviously, having the Rams play at the Coliseum for the next 3 years will be a huge revenue boost for USC as well.

They have a 98 year lease and pay $1M in rent a year while we pay effectively nothing as primary tenant because it is basically ours.

ha ha...

The $$$ USC will be making off the Coliseum for decades to come...(let alone the next 3 years with at least 9 NFL games played in the stadium for each of the next 3 years), the $1 Million fee is a pittance....as USC will earn more $$$ from just one 90,000 person crowd (including thousands and thousands of high $$$ College and NFL Premium seating) in a the soon to be renovated stadium vs what Memphis will make in an entire season...

With 7 USC games...and at least 9 LA Rams games per year for next 3 years...plus other events/concerts, USC will be sitting pretty for decades to come.

90,000. Lmao. Gtfo.

I dont remeber 90,000 when we kicked their Trojan arse.

UCF lost to the trojans that year.

Didn't everyone beat USC back in 1991 (just about...as USC went 3-8).

Thanks again for pointing out that in 1991, UCF had recently jumped up from Div II to Div I-AA in 1990...as that then young/small Div I-AA program went on to DOMINATE Memphis to the tune of a 9-0 undefeated conf record vs the Tigers from 2005-2013.

No wonder Memphis is so embarrassed.

Thanks...as I recall it was against the Big 12 Champs Baylor on Jan 1, 2014...as UCF was one of only 2 current G5 schools that ever won a BCS Bowl Game. (Believe Boise State is the other).

One bad season immediately rectified with new coaches, new donors, new uniforms, new facilities upgrades... UCF fans are feeling pretty good right now.

How many mediocre Tuberville seasons will it take before Cincy fans have something to get excited about again?

One thing to remember is that UCF is basically do what most Univ have done with their on-campus stadiums over time....constantly update/renovate them.

When you OWN your own on-campus stadium...since its such a key revenue driver for your schools for decades and decades and decades.

Here's just a quick list of how old some college football stadiums are...and almost none of them look like today like they did on Day 1.

Opened:
1913: Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd Stadium

1917: Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium

1921: Tennessee's Neyland Stadium

1922: Ohio State's Ohio Stadium

and so on...

Key is to get one built on-campus and always search for ways to improve/renovate it as it can be a 100 plus year pay-off in the end.

Odds are...in 100 years, UCF's BHNS won't look anything like it is today...even after the recent upgrades.

Speaking of more UCF improvements at their sport facilities, here is the latest $2.6 Million summer upgrade/renovation project to UCF's CFE Arena Plaza (funds privately sourced, as the $$ are coming from the independent "Village" which controls all retail/restaurants and 2,000 dorms in the Athletic Village).
