Tulane....

I think there is a possibility that the PAC, depending on how things play out with the Big 12 expands and adds UH and Tulane.
It all really is going to depend on what Texas decides.

Say Texas is a No-Go to the PAC and they go elsewhere and the PAC wants to expand EAST.
They could add Oklahoma and (Oklahoma State or Texas Tech) and two more.

This scenario would have the PAC looking for eastern expansion into large markets (Houston and New Orleans).
Say they add Houston (large public school) to bookend Los Angeles and then they look for a non- religious premiere private school (Tulane).
I could also see them exploring the optioning of doubling down on Houston with Rice. That would give them TWICE the exposure in the Houston market.

Now that the PAC12 is at 12 I doubt they are opening the books for anyone but Texas and whoever Texas wants as a plus one. Supposedly the PAC12 said thanks, no thanks to OU if they weren't coming with Texas so I think everyone else has a steep hill to climb. Houston might be possible be cause of the market and the Texas recruiting angle, but New Orleans is only the 50th largest TV market. If UNLV did ever build a 50K+ stadium they might be a darkhorse 14th team.

I believe Tulane is poised for a return to the SEC and it's glory days. Everything they are doing is putting them in that position. Cudos to the AD and boosters for striving for excellence. Tulane should be the poster child for the rest of the AAC members on how to elevate themselves.01-ncaabbs01-ncaabbs

They may be forced to enter the Texas market, with or without Texas, if the want to maintain market share in other time zones. It all depends what happens to the Big 12.

The infighting and the rejection of Expansion makes me think many of the members of the Big 12 are starting to look for new landing spots. I think ultimately the conferences will end up with 16 members with some of the dead weight (smaller market, non-power brands, on the outside looking in).

I just don't see how the Big 12 can stay together after the contract is up in 8 years. There is so much fighting and clearly Texas rules the roost. Reminds me of Louisville in the old Metro Conference. At one point we had Syracuse, South Carolina, Florida State, Memphis, Pittsburgh, Boston College, West Virginia, Louisville, Tulane, etc. Many members tried to form a football conference and Louisville veto'd everything.

Yes all are on the table. But AAC is where we are with mostly schools that we have so much history with now for so many years. I love this conference. Now let's get paid. That's all that's missing.
