OT: Jurassic World
I just wanted to make sure I posted this to a board with lots of activity. Jurassic World sucks badly. It's like they just slapped something together for a Summer popcorn flick. Funny how all the people in the audience liked it when I watched it the day it came out. Put it on the Syfy channel and don't pub it and suddenly no one knows what it is. I'm watching it again. Not only is there no plot but the dinosaurs are totally CGI unless I missed something.

It's almost exactly like the first one, except there are more people.

What was cool in 1993 suddenly does not seem so cool in 2015.

RE: OT: Jurassic World
More or less, everything we saw in JW was done in the first three. The I-Rex was just a Plot-o-saurus Rex as some called it. It had cheesy dialogue, forgettable characters, forced (i.e. failed) chemistry, you name it, it was wrong and for all that hype, publicity and fanfare because of what franchise it belongs to.

They should have explored more ideas or created a global disaster movie faturing dinosaurs pushing mankind to the brink of extinction. Has that been done before? I wish it was rather than a plot that more or less has been done many tims before.

Also, that British assistant suffers the most awful death I've ever seen on screen for an innocent character. It's horrid how she was killed during the Pterandon attack on the park.

Eh, I liked the girl in the control room better but to each their own. The Brit girl was too skinny.

Did you ever watch Merlin? She looked pretty good in Merlin...

The wife and I caught this movie when it came out. The wife quickly pointed out to me that Dallas Howard was running around the jungle in high heels and later outran the T-Rex. Pretty stupid when you consider in the first one they barely beat out the same dinosaur flooring it in a jeep.

LOL that was hilarious on many levels. Realistically she should have taken them off to have any chance. And the T-Rex and Raptor working together to beat the I-Rex? Then ignoring the humans? Even if the Raptor is tamed, the T-Rex isn't.

I almost forgot to add the almost exclusive use of CGI and lack of animatronics. Where are the big dinosaur puppets that made the raptors and T-Rex seem so real in the first one?

In the top photo, it looks like she's about to set a spell on someone or something.

Way better? Were we watching the same movie? They'd have been better off just bringing back Neil, Goldblum and Dern and having them enjoying the opened park and any dangers involved. They brought back B.D. Wong for goddness sake.

At least tLW and JP III added something new (III to a lesser extent), this one just looked like a sloppily thrown together cash grab and congrats to the creators of the movie because that's what they got, raking in the dough.

RE: OT: Jurassic World
Good story, decent acting, not so great dialogue, but the dinosaur action was alright even if the CGI wasn't all that great. I don't need to see it again, I'll just watch the original if I want that. I'm kinda scared however that the director is making one of the Star Wars movies, I wish they chose someone else with a better track record for big-budget blockbusters (i.e. Marvel directors).

Good story? To each their own, I don't mean to belittle your opinion but the plot had more holes than Swiss cheese and was strange, to say the least. The dinosaur action of the I-Rex was virtually identical to that of the Spinosaur from III and the T-Rex in the first two, though it killed for sport and not just hunger.

yes, I think it's way better than II or III...and others seem to agree.

Rotten Tomatoes:

Jurassic Park - 93%
Jurassic World - 72%
Jurassic Park II - 51%
Jurassic Park III - 50%

bringing back Neil, Goldblum and Dern would have been too much...BD Wong, the JP Jeep, and the T-Rex were perfect throw backs, without being too much nostalgia. (I also noticed Dr Malcom's book on the nerd dudes desk)

the Lost World was a fantastic book, and they screwed up that movie so much...only decent scene was the T-Rex and the trailer, which is straight out of the book.

RE: OT: Jurassic World
It's great that a bunch of people that have opinions like us like JW better. Looking side-by-side, I'd give JW the nod over III but JW was supposed to be adding something new and improved to the equation. They had about 15 years to improve on the first trilogy and just made a Summer box office popcorn flick. I'm obviously in the minority though I'll give you that, most of the audience delightfully clapped at the end of it while I went "eh."

I'd have enjoyed something with the original castees (RiP to the actor who played Hammond) as well as Julianne Moore, at least if they were gonna create something that lacked as much spark as that.
