RE: OT: Jurassic World
Maybe because we all have personal preferences. But even with that in mind, I'm completely dumbfounded how people think Jurassic World was such a good movie. The Lost World was okay and JPIII was an obvious cash in but they at least didn't take a decade and a half to make. They took that long to make JW and this is what we're left with?

I dare you to name one scene from JW that was better than the paragliding/pteronadon scene from JPIII. Just one. Who gives a bleep what some entertainment writers and critics think, they're just people. This is like the media basically telling people not to like Steph Curry's shoes and to like Michael Jordan's. People are such sheep, they'll just go with whatever the media tells them to believe.

RE: OT: Jurassic World

RE: OT: Jurassic World
I mean, to each their own.

That said, you point out the ridiculous scene where wild, unstable and untrustworthy animals completely ignore easy prey humans and fight each other?

You point out a scene where two unrelated species, a raptor and a T-Rex, team up and then acknowledge each other at the end as mutual partners (it'd make more sense for the raptor and I-Rex to do so, at least with a genetic and communication link)? A scene where a marine dinosaur conveniently jumps out of the water like a dolphin to eat the bad dino?

And worst of all, you selected a scene where a woman can outrun a T-Rex in high heels, the same animal that we saw in the first installment catch up to and keep pace with a moving vehicle? 03-lmfao

I'm willing to suspend disbelief and enjoy a movie without completely overanalyzing but that scene was so ridiculous the majority of reviews I've seen has been people laughing at it. If you liked it though, there's nothing I can do but roll my eyes and move on.

But no way was it better than the pteronadon/paragliding scene, which was realistic enough, action packed and suspenseful.

Lord, he made it so boring. It should have only taken him 5 minutes to explain how JW sucked while JP was a classic.

Independence Day 2 is an example of a bad re-boot...

Jurassic World and Star Trek (2009) are examples of good re-boot's (along with Star Wars: TFA)

RE: OT: Jurassic World
Jurassic World isn't a reboot. They'd have been trying to remake the first movie more or less had they done that. They openly acknowledged the continuity of the first three movies, even if 2-3 were basically ignored. Hammond, Malcolm and Wu (played by the same actor) all have a presence as does the original logo, with the original park being explicitly mentioned.

For that matter, neither is ID4-part II a reboot, otherwise it'd be the same basic movie with someone playing Captain Hiller. They need to wait another 15-30 years to reboot ID4.

I'm with you 100% I simply don't understand why JW is so highly rated. To me, it's a movie you watch once and then move on. I watched the first JP maybe a dozen times or so.

RE: OT: Jurassic World
As I said, they should have explored some new concepts, like dinosaurs destroying the human population or the building of the park (either park). The dinos didn't always look real. Even in JPIII, which gets slammed by critics, the dinos look very real to the point I don't even think about it unless in a conversation like this. There was character development and we actually began to care about the Kirbys, their reunion after divorce and search for their child. We cared about Eric, the lost child.

I couldn't care less about any of the characters from JW, not even Chris Pratt's, the lone bright spot of the movie. That and everything I've already discussed over an over.

I was merely replying to the last guy, it should be clear how I feel by now. Plus the other guy said he couldn't believe I liked the other sequels better and I explained why.

It was what we can expect from blockbuster summer films. I was frustrated by the hollowness of the story though.

Jurrasic World is on HBO, I have a free trial, and I watch the movie again. I caught something. The designer of the dinosaurs says something about the dinosaurs not being real dinosaurs and "You knew that".

What I think is being said is that our knowledge of dinosaurs has changed so much from the first movie. Real dinosaurs, today, would have feathers and colors, etc. I wonder if updated dinosaurs, based on today's knowledge, will be part of future films.

If not, expect more war dinosaurs taking on ISIS. 04-cheers
