Let the AD carouse and blow steam with that group. Just separate the party boys from the nonpartyboas, so that the gossip doesn't back up like a sewer line.

yep

I hope we hire coaches that can manage their time well enough to spend time with a historic group of fans and donors.

I'd rather he be recruiting or relaxing with his family instead of wasting time placating a bunch of overage jock sniffers.

Well that statement just hit the meter for all time ignorance and stupidity. I guess that you aren't a member of any booster group or for that matter the TSF, since that would make you a jock sniffer as well. And BTW, the female student athletes take exception to your use of the phase "jock sniffer".

I find it incredible that one could find a brush so broad as to demean a few thousand donors to the athletic dept. and paint them with a derogatory phrase.

Looks I struck a nerve? I'm a member of both the HH and TSF. However, I prefer not to pester the coaches.

I have always though what the HH did was incredible and starting back when they did was actually game breaking and revolutionary. The other side of the coin is exactly what you said, Head Coaches having to attend weekly meetings has to be a pain in the butt. Especially if you can imagine the amount of stupid questions they get from the group.

I was at a meeting where Stobart spoke, we had just had a QB transfer to Southern Mississippi, he was not any good here or there in the end but one older gentleman after he transferred asked Stobart this question...

"What are we going to do now when we play Southern? We lost this player, what is your plan?" Stobart looked at him and in bewilderment said something like "we aren't going to do anything more than we would do before he transferred, I doubt he will get any playing time anyway at USM" The guy would then not give up, he stayed standing and asking the same question insisting Stobart give him an answer he was looking for I guess and Stobard would not, the crowd had to shout the idiot down. This is when the HH meeting was held off of Mt. Moriah by what was then the Loft Restaurant in that hotel next to it.

The best meeting I went to was when Joe Lee was hired the first time as DC, we were about halfway through the first season and someone asked him why we were not winning more etc that year and was he surprised. His reply was classic JLD "Most of the teams we play, their guys are much bigger and must faster at this point, we can scheme some things to help but we have to get bigger and faster guys".

Yes, in the Q and A portion, which is usually after the coaches speak, everyone is at various tables etc, eating and drinking, you stand up and ask the coach a question. We were all a little less smart when we left that evening because of that person.
