2016-2017 Conference Basketball schedule released
Lots of very important changes this year...and most of them should be appreciated'

The Basics: 9 home game, 9 road games for 18 total.

Each team will play three sets of travel partners twice each, play their designated rival twice each for 14 games. The other 4 games will be one game apiece against the remaining 2 sets of travel partners

No team may travel for more than 3 straight games, and that can only happen if they face their designated rival.

Men will play Saturday/Monday while Women will play Thursday/Saturday. There will no more midweek DH's, but teams may schedule DH's on Saturday. The schedule is set up where the men and women will face the same team on Saturday.

All Rivalry games are guaranteed to be played on Saturday, unless ESPN selects that game for television.

It will switch the next year and Men will play Thursday/Saturday and Women Saturday/Monday. Midweek DH's were killing Women's attendance

I'm really in favor of all the changes, but I think this may be the least. Little Rock is one of our closest competitors and was our most attended conference game of the year, even beating out Texas State. If they have any type of competitiveness next year, could have helped spark a rivalry, especially with so many similarities between the two schools.

I feel differently I think the double headers were helping our women team with attendance. I know that's the reason I attended. Now you have to compete with Monday night football or Monday night Raw. We will see.

You would also think there might be some cost savings leveraged by having a larger group for flights and hotels.

Best scheduling since we've been members, amazing what a balanced conference can do.

Are App/CCU the farthest from each other by travel partners? (280 miles)

Yes, but for those of us whose Women's team's actually draw well, the game was a mess.

Women's game would start at 5 where small crowds of people would be around, they'd slowly trickle in around 6 and watch the 2nd half. People who came to watch the Men would end up leaving at half because by then it was 9:00 and kids needed to be in bed on a school night.

I think this will be for the better. Provides an option of a DH for Saturday, but prevents those long midweek nights.

I don't know how you guys did it, but our Men and Women always traveled separately and stayed in separate hotels. Our Women's coach was very particular about traveling immediately after the game on Thursday to the Saturday game site, so the team could have a full day to rest and practice without the pain of traveling. Men's team couldn't do that.
