If UTEP does leave for the MWC, I doubt CUSA adds another team. There would be no reason to unless they feel like they just have to have an even number of teams. If they do and try to grab an SBC school, it will most likely be App State. Sorry NMSU.

Eventually I think the SunBelt, CUSA, and the MWC are all going to reorganize into better geographically sound conferences. It just makes too much sense especially in an inevitable G5/P5 split. The AAC doesn't need to reshuffle teams and the MAC is already geographically sound for the most part. The other three would reshuffle into this:

The MWC: Air Force, Boise State, Cal State, UNM, NMST, UNLV, UN Reno, SDSU, Colorado State, Utah State, Wyoming, UTEP

The SunBelt: UTSA, North Texas, TXST, Rice, Arkansas St, ULL, ULM, LaTech, Southern Miss, Missouri State, UAB, South Alabama

CUSA: Marshall, ODU, WKU, MTSU, App, UNCC, Coastal, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Troy, FIU, FAU

All leagues have 12 teams, all teams with old rivals and close to eachother, NMST gets an FBS home, just makes too much sense.

The irony here to me - is that if UTEP had not left the WAC back in 2007, they would have most assuredly ended up in the MWC when the WAC imploded and everyone (well, almost ) moved to the MWC. well utep is certainly an outlier to cusa or the sbc. they fit better with the western schools and that mountain time zone. they could go to mwc along with byu. there has been some talk about byu warming up to that conference. the top poachable prospect in the sbc is still u-laf as far as facilities and fan support and so on. stAte would be a not so distant second.

I agree. Think BYU is the more likely target, but those two (UTEP) would make a lot of sense. MWC has a very good TV contract and those two would only make it more attractive to advertisers.

Our financials are better than CUSA, we don't have a program that is under attack to be disbanded like the MAC... whatever happens, happens.

If Olympic sports is driving expansion and if they don't want to kick out Hawaii then why don't they just look at adding Wichita St and call it day?

Why is GaSt the likely replacement? Marketz? (sorry just too easy). But seriously does GaSt an inside track? I know they get CUSA into GA and a huge market, but what else. They do have a lot of potential and are a higher research classification. What about ULL or ArkSt?

The rumor is USM to AAC. LaTech doesn't want ULL. ArkSt seems happy in SBC. GaSt bridges gap between florida and brings fertile recruiting, Atlanta potential, matches other institutions like UNCC, UAB, UTSA. Personally wouldn't mind stAte.

why the heck would smu want to leave the aac for the mwc. while it would be a win for utep which identifies more with the western schools and the mountain time zone, it would be goofy for smu which fits well in the aac of mostly metro schools .

We get our students from California and Texas. We want east coast exposure to broaden the student base

I can believe the AAC might be interested in Southern Miss, UTEP not as much so. Media markets just don't seem to interest the AAC as much as they do CUSA (yeah, there's Tulane, but they are the only team in the AAC that is a media market and nothing else).

I'm also not really sure any Big 12 or AAC expansion will trickle down to the Sun Belt. Surely CUSA is at least starting to have doubts as to whether or not they made the right choice with their latest expansions.

If CUSA took App I would be in favor for NMSU...

If CUSA or the MAC are in a position to add a school, that school will be JMU.

we have been on deck for both conferences for awhile, and will absolutely accept an invite from either league.
