Man that would be fantastic. I've missed the trips to the Bluff City.

Sense as well as cents. Should be a great series for all involved. Congrats on getting this done.

Besides, we are still holding Tiger fans captive in the belly of Bartow Arena. Maybe we can let them go now? Naaaaaa. I think two were banned from MT.ORG.

Good to "see" y'all again, I'm Tiger all the way, but have lots of good memories with the Blazers.

It's a nice series to to play.

The bones trophy should be on the line in this series.

Memphis renews football series with Arkansas State and renews basketball series with UAB. Still won't even discuss renewing football series with USM. Let me guess why......

from what I hear we took this series because it's very inexpensive...we can just bus the team to Birmingham.

same with ASU...it's an hour dive from Memphis.

we just gave USM a basketball game...

RE: Memphis and UAB to begin basketball home and home
Personally, I think any games or extended series like this is a great thing for all parties involved and should happen as often as possible. It's easy for the fans to travel. The local sports media hype it up more and it's usually easy on the athletic department's budgets to make it happen. We negotiate down a lot just to get multiple games or even home and homes.

In this economy when college sports attendance is down, local area games are an excellent way to engage the community and build up local rivalries. If we played WKU and UAB on our regular schedule and teams like Memphis, VU, UT, UK, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, etc. I'm probably traveling to everyone of those games. All of those teams except UK are 4 hours or less. Perfect for fans.

I really feel the same way about who we schedule at home too. Our attendance is much better with a Memphis or Vandy coming to the Boro. We schedule a FCS team every year from far away when we have like 10 FCS schools within 1.5 hours of us or so. One is a HBC that would bring 15 - 20k with them. I don't like the FCS scheduling to be honest but at least bring in a nearby school for the attendance value.

I hope all of us will continue to do this more in the future. Proximity is better for the fans and the school's local hype.

Here's one we can start with: UAB beat Tubby Smith's #1 1-seeded Wildcats for a spot in the Sweet Sixteen... and Tubby trademarked the "Surrender Frog", which has been overshadowed recently by the much more popular "Surrender Cobra"...

I'd like to see this too! That thumping you guys put on us in the '93 tourney,
(a team w/ Penny Hardaway) is one of my top five heartbreakers ever!

Damnit, now I need a drink.

Tubby Smith has reached an agreement in principle to be Memphis' next coach, a source told @CBSSports. Formal announcement expected soon.

Well, it is not just Memphis. I have heard that the AAC has put a ban on any AAC team scheduling USM in football. Why, I have no clue. There are long and historic rivalries between Memphis and ECU. Games between USM and those two schools just make sense.

Well I know that's B.S. because you guys have a home game scheduled with Navy in 2019.

I believe that is the return game of a home and home with Navy. We played at Navy in 2011. That would have been signed before there was an AAC.
