Eagles get some insurance, lead 5-1, 2 runners on, 1 out...another pitching change for OM...still T9.

That's not going to help the RPI or conference RPI. How did this team take 2 from FAU and then drop the ball against a 300 RPI team at home?

Great job by the pitching staff tonight, along with some clutch hits. First time in a long time in mid week.

Nice win by the Eagles. Tim Lynch was on fire. 4 hits tonight. Finally got some quality pitching in a mid week game. Should be a good RPI boost. OM was #4 in RPI. On to UAB now.

Agreed. Thought I was going to be talking about coaching decisions again, but it all worked out. Seems that Berry wanted to make sure Winston shut them down, but that he didn't pitch enough to be useless this weekend.

Need to sweep UAB now.

USM now has the 2nd longest current road win streak at 6. It's going to be a big challenge to keep that intact through the weekend at UAB

We are probably the most inconsistent team in college baseball over the past 5 years. #firehibbs

Sweet... I was worried about this one.. We always seem to have our toughest opponents in the midweek when we have our weakest pitching staff members available

Its baseball. It happens, but still VERRRRY disappointing. Especially coming off a road series win against a top 15 team.

Agreed. It just goes to show you how dangerous of a team I believe we can be when we are clicking on the mound and at the plate. Our hitting has been consistent but you have to have pitching to make it in the post season. Hopefully this is a good sign for our bullpen/young guys.

Side note - I really wish Chase Scott would stop trying to lay out for balls when it's unnecessary. He has done it in the past for whatever reason and last night it cost us a run.

I really believe that if it hadn't been for Braley's injury, Scott would be coming off the bench as a pinch hitter by now. The kid is doing his best, but he is not an outfielder. The drop last night was on the run, but a natural outfielder catches that ball.

Really think we need to give Keating more of a shot in LF, or when Hadley returns from his injury, maybe try Gilbert in LF. Scott is struggling at the plate and in the field. He seems to hit better when he only DHs, having said that Hunter Slater is really starting to heat up...can he play OF?

Next year we will return Braley, Hadley, Cooper, Burdeaux, Keating, Robinson, and Slater who have contributed at the plate or in the field this season. Our big losses, in the field, are Lynch, Dawson and Sandlin, plus Scott and Gilbert. On the mound we lose Cockrell, Johnson, Winston, and Lowery. But I do like McCarty, Powers, Powell & Sandlin on the mound who all return.
