provide an example of Memphis forking out money for a FBS guarantee game...
That is the point. You were able to buy home games against us, MTSU and the like for years but inflation pushed you out of the market. Basic economics.
Nobody said anything about every year. It is like you don't even read. It was your school's stated position that they wouldn't schedule us at all that irritated people. It is the attitude that you guys are too good to associate with us that is stupid (that is about your fans not AD).
and when was this? we have played MTSU and ASU home-home since 1999...come join us 17 YEARS LATER in 2016
Talking about your clueless fan base, genius. They are whining that if they play us it should be mostly or exclusively in Memphis. THEY are stuck in the 1990sas I explained. Try to keep up.

Does one program have a big edge or streak against the other.
Idaho and BSU are 15-15 the last thirty for example.
Both schools have had twelve game streaks Boise quit playing us at the end of theirs.
Wish we would have done the same and never moved up at this point.
Michigan is unique having three big rivals.
OSU the most heated maybe in all of college football.
OSU fans once flipped cars with Michigan tags after a big upset ruined their season.
MSU most of the hate is on the State side it drives them crazy OSU is the main rival.
Notre Dame big in Western Michigan ,Chicago and Northern Indiana.
Tons of history lots of crazy finishes .
Memphis has a slight lead in the series, owing primarily to our years in the Wilderness in the 90's, when we'd give anyone a free home game in exchange for cold, hard, cash.
Overall, we hate them. They pretend that they are above us and are actual rivals with Ole Miss and the like, but you can tell by interactions between the fan bases during game week that they secretly hate us as well.
We've traded a few beating recently. We beat them 50-3 in 2011, and they turned around and beat us 38-7 in 2013. Both fan bases still have pictures of the scoreboards and highlights from those games that we like to post occasionally to prove our mastery against the other. Both fan bases blame those losses on the coaches of their respective teams. Memphis fans blame Larry Porter, and his general stupidity for 2011, AState fans blame Bryan Harsin for not understanding enough about the rivalry in 2013, and being generally unprepared for the game.

ASU and Memphis are rivals...that's just a true statement...but so are Memphis and Ole Miss...Mississippi won something like the first 20 to games from the 20s through the 60s, so the series record is a little skewed, lol...my first year going to games was 2003 (my freshman year at Memphis was 04) and I've seen Memphis play Ole Miss 9 times...we're 3-6 in those games, and we we're competitive in several of those Ls...Memphis is 12-2-47 (win-ties-loses) against Ole Miss.

Many of our wins came when we were 1-AA. That's why some of them have a hard time accepting this series. It's mainly the older guys that still have that bad taste in their mouth.
A friend and alum of MSU told me many years ago, we were always considered 'a thorn in their side'. We've stopped their perceived 'early season momentum' too many times.

If you use the ole system of +1 for road win and -1 for home loss I'm sure stAte clocks those tiger high clowns. So many of the games were played at Memphis and we won our fair share.

1975 (one of the best games in the series) 29-10
Followed up with a 30-10 win when I was a student in the 80s.....with our backup QB. :)

Since WWII Memphis is 22-9-3 (win-lose-tie) against ASU...12-4-1 (win-lose-tie) since 1990...and we won the last game in the series.
RE: AState and Memphis agree to renew longstanding Football series
Y'all ran off 10 straight during the 90s....just like everyone else did. Most all of those games were in Memphis. Yet even that swing of games, during our worst stretch in history, y'all only managed one real blowout. Most were fairly close scores. And one game (that we absolutely gifted to you), you still lost your top 25 ranking despite your win. :)
When we started having games in Jonesboro again, the series started leveling out.

ASU owned us from 1914-1939...congrats
You think that 22 game stretch where every game in the series was played in Memphis had something to do with it Drew?
We only won 5 games from 1950 until the Hail Mary game in 2006. In that time, only two games were played in Jonesboro, in 2000, and 2006.

The teams last played in 2013. The 7 year break will be the longest in the history of the series.
Mohajir got the contract after winning a game of shuffleboard with the Tiger High AD at a convention last year. The series renewal was put up as the stakes.
A game of shuffleboard resulted in the series renewal . . . . Gotta Love that . . ..
Wonder if we can get the AD's at Texas and A&M to play a game. . .. .
Congrats on the series renewal . . [/i]
sounds about as true as Johnny Morris and Bill Dance catching a fish to decide if they buy the Pyramid and make it a Bass Pro...it's a 'fish tale' that makes for a fun story.
shuffleboard? were they at a retirement home?
Get out much? Shuffleboard is common in many bars.
That's floor shuffleboard; I'm talking about this:

shuffleboard in a bar? doesn't sound like my kind of place...bars should have booze and people...not karaoke or shuffleboard...but you go ahead and believe that 6-7, figure executives are deciding major contracts on a game of shuffleboard.
if that story were true, Memphis and ASU would be looking for new ADs this morning...hell, Bowen did give Pastner that ridiculous contract, but I digress...
Bars should have booze? Thanks Captain Obvious.
Like I said, you must not get out much.
Do you think bars shouldn't have jukeboxes, TVs, foosball, or billiards as well? Just strictly people and alcohol?

Yeah, never said they were in a bar. Just pointing out to this Memphis joker that shuffleboard is a pretty common game in bars, like billiards and foosball.
Last resort I went to actually had a shuffleboard table in the hotel bar. My mind went to an image of them playing table shuffleboard, not some old fogies playing whatever game Winston posted a pic of.
Which is the reason I asked if he/she gets out much. Which given his/her response, tells me he/she doesn't.
