WVTM13 sports anchor/reporter Tom Annino tweeted telephone convo w/Ingram
Tom Annino‏@tomannino
Just got off the phone with @UAB_AD. Here are some things we talked about...

1. He has not interviewed anyone for the MBB coaching job as of yet. Hopes to begin that process soon.
2. Wants a basketball coach with high moral character. In-state ties are important but he sounds open to all options.
3. He could not confirm nor deny the http://AL.com report about reaching out to Auburn's Chuck Person.
4. The opinion of former coach Jerod Haase means a lot to Ingram. (You would think that would help the case for Rob Ehsan...?)
5. The report of UAB offering the job to Rick Stansbury was false.
6. On UAB football building: The plan is to go to the BOT meeting in June to request moving forward with the construction process.
7. Fundraising must continue in order to move forward w/that plan. Ingram says he has no reason to believe they wouldn't get approval
8. If everything goes according to plan, Ingram says they will break ground as soon as they can, hopefully by August

Pretty reasonable responses

If ground breaking is August 1st, what would be the normal completion / put into use date for that size structure? Is the new safer practice field to be installed by then?

Coach said if they break ground in August, they would be in the building in July 2017.

That would be good. How about the safer turf practice field?

I hope that schedule holds up better than the one for I-22 completion. It was originally said to be complete in summer 2015 and here we are in April 2016 still looking at "future I-22". Has any new due date for (present) I-22 been posted? I guess we will know for sure about both projects by August 2017.

I don't know anything for certain about I-22, but I have to believe that completion is nearing. The last layers of asphalt have been put down and striping of lanes is happening. I would guess that since they are that close to completion then it will be open just in time for UAB Football to start in 2017.

It looks like the connection from I-65 to I-22 is in place, just not ready to open.
Can't see how there is that much left to do.

You have to question though if only a $2000 a day penalty would be enough to speed them up.

Seems like you could bank the money & still make more in a day that what you would have to forfeit due to being late.

No, this isn't a request to tell us how I-65 was finally joined in Fultondale, but should you wish to do so go right ahead.

Speaking of Annino though, the guy seems to be quite respectable compared to some others we have seen in the media.
