New Glass Bowl Turf
Unfortunately, the REAL logo will not be on the field.

Angle is sadly wrong (looks dolphinish) but otherwise looks pretty much the same as on that webpage and this? What am I missing? I think if they're going to get rid of the leaping dolphin look they'd need to change the tail back to blue.

I think I like this one

When you see the current logo on the field it's not always easy to see that it's a rocket.

The official logo: [Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQtcbYiVKk2DW4KFNOrr8F...Q-iGyekuey]

RE: New Glass Bowl Turf
I'd have to see a picture of our official logo on a turf field to see whether I like it or not. I'm fine with the plain Rocket logo, as long as it's bold and stands out. New turf is new turf, it's going to look a lot better than the old field.

Cameras see midfield more than endzone. I like Toledo or UT on the midfield logo.

Please don't suggest that we go back the simplistic UT from the 70s or the typewriter fonts of the 60s. We need to have some identity. If you think the logo needs a refresh maybe that can be considered but we do need to put something on the field

With electronics as they are I suppose they can put anything they want on the field as far as TV. As far as being at the game? I guess I've grown used to seeing the logo and I can see the point that it's an identity. As long as they keep putting a football team on the field, I suppose I'd be happy but I wouldn't want a logo that was distracting. Some of these new fields and basketball courts, I just don't like.

The new field is very nice, but, the only thing I want is to have more fans in the stands. This team is going to be very GOOD this season. So, lets all get off our a***s and support the Rockets this fall.

Like the midfield rocket but the end zone font is rather bland and generic. A more distinct and defining font would be nice. Branding is important for both recognition and overall perception.

Pretty basic, but I like it !! Also looking forward to seeing the finished product on the east side redo. Possibly new light fixtures in the near future !!

I'm with you, definitely not a fan of the plain, generic font they are planning on using, which looks like the same font they used on the current turf. They could do a lot better.

I agree with both of you. I like the Rocket at midfield, but the endzones look generic.

They could have gone with the arched Toledo, like the athletic department logo, without the rocket. The women had the arched Toledo on the front of the Gold jerseys they wore against BGSUcks, I thought it looked sharp.

Well, the Rocket is all good, but like DetroitRocket said, I think the official logo would be great promo on TV:

[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQtcbYiVKk2DW4KFNOrr8F...Q-iGyekuey]

We've traded live attendance for live TV. Let's make sure our brand is in their face for 3-1/2 hours.

I get dibs on the piece that kept tripping Swanson 3 yds from the end zone after an 88yd jaunt. Figure to give it to him for a ritual mowing/exorcism.

I've always thought the UT rocket logo looked more like a killer whale than a rocket. Even North Korea could make a better looking rocket.

Turf demolition on-going and fast. Lots of photos tracking the progress on instagram and twitter. Here's one:
