Cat Wells
Cat Wells will be playing for Ball State next year. Brady Sallee is predicting that she could develop into one of the best guards in the MAC.

Coaches rarely say "Well, we still had a scholarship and we couldn't get anyone else". Not saying she won't do well but coaches' predictions don't necessarily count for much.

"She [Cat Wells] has grown tremendously in the time from her great high school career until now"

I assume the coach is alluding to her personal demeanor and not her basketball skills with that comment. I have no problems with second chances so hopefully he is right and she can finally capitalizes on her basketball skills.

It has all the earmarks for a potential "feel good" story of redemption that everyone loves, but I admit it seems that way too many of these kind of stories have recently featured either former Rocket players or some that came close to being Rocket players.

Does anyone know how much eligibility she has left? Counting her short summer at Toledo, this makes her fourth school since leaving high school.

Had problems with the coaches, would not listen to them, big problem, not sure about her grades, might not be the brightest bulb in class.

It appears that Wells has now landed at the University of Northwestern Ohio, an NAIA school.

If one does not want to listen to coaches, where do professors rank in the "I don't care" list?

I have heard that her grades are not up to parr. Take it for what it is worth. I never felt that she was a good fit for UT.

Strange----Tell me if I am wrong but I thought that Notre Dame Academy is an excellent academic high school. Of course the way she seems unable to settle in anywhere for any time may be indicative of a something that goes beyond just academics.

I don't think Ms. Wells is the one with the problem we could be discussing. Enabling anyone? Maybe someone should be discussing with her options at which she might reach her goals more successfully. College isn't the only path and if the problem is academics, then colleges are geared for only so much remedial work. Again, there are other options.

Whatever, still wish her the best. She's close to home and at a good school. Hope it works out.

Not trying to bust any chops, it is just that I find it strange that a student who is able to graduate from Notre Dame Academy is not up to the intellectual challenges offered by any of the four schools she has enrolled in. Four different schools in 4 or 5 years definitely suggests that something is not quite clicking for her but I am not sure that the problem is academic aptitude. Of course I could be overestimating the academic prowess of NDA as I only know of it by its reputation, not first hand knowledge.

I can't imagine even the fanciest most expensive prep school having 100% college success rate on their graduates. I don't think there's anything abnormal (strange) here other than the number of schools that seem more interested in their basketball success than this kid's academic and personal growth success.

Painful to read the bio they wrote at Tallahassee. And I thought some of the UT bios were poorly written at times. Apparently they do not proofread those things - and if they do, then it doesn't say much for the academic quality of those in charge of providing the bios.
