Stadium Renovations
Just for fun...I'd like to hear what changes and renovations other Sunbelt fans would like to see in your stadiums, and what plans are there in place already (if any) to spruce things up around the league.

Every year App fans discuss what we'd like to see improved about Kidd Brewer, and the conversation is almost always centered around what to do with the track...remove it, lower the field, shift it over, cover it, etc.

Here's a fan rendering of what KBS could look like and I think it's pretty sweet.[Image: 526e2c9c0efe3396471e496e42724305.jpg]

RE: Stadium Renovations
I think you definitely have to nix the track...the stadium just looks cleaner without it...Plus, the bleachers can be extended much closer to the field and increase seating capacity (if needed).

I'd like to cut our seating capacity by 3K or so in exchange for improvements to fan amenities, etc.

We need something to at least make our press box look more impressive than it is.

How about a 50 ft. bug zapper on top of it? Those "no see 'ems" are bad down in southern GA. Plus, people would see it for miles and it would increase attendance to the point you would have to expand!! 05-stirthepot

RE: Stadium Renovations
It seems like there's always a project going on in the offseason at Paulson. 3 years ago they dug out the hills to get ready to building the new FOC and Mid Deck. 2 years ago they completed the FOC and Mid Deck expansion. Last year they installed a new video ribbon on the student side and this year they're installing turf.

I think in about 5-10 years Paulson is going to grow exponentially. First the Pressbox will be torn down and replaced with another deck and then we will build a grand Pressbox on top of that similar to what Arkansas State has. Then, bishop will be torn down and replaced by bowling that side of the stadium with seats below and improved box seats above similar to what Southern Miss has and what I think Troy is planning. If attendance continues to grow the final expansion for a while will be to build the top deck above the mid-deck on the student side. Student seating will most likely shift to the end zone seats like in most college stadiums. Capacity if all this is done would be about 50-65k.

I doubt Bishop is torn down, there's really nothing wrong with it. I could see incorporating it into a larger facade and bowling in that side though.

RE: Stadium Renovations
Cajun Field is pretty much outlined in our Athletics Master Plan. It includes taking down the home side upper deck, and the construction of a seven story building housing office space, an apparel store, and team support areas along with a new top deck for press, suites, club facilities, and some outside seating. They've already bowled one end zone to give extra seating when this work is going on. I'd also like them to redo the seating on the two sidelines to new seating with actual chair backs to fit current codes.

Current Expansion plans for Brooks stadium:

My future hopes for Coastal's stadium:

In my more realistic hopes I would love to see Coastal eventually have a stadium like Houston's new one and the fan base support to fill it every game.

It will if it outlives it's usefulness. If in the future we have several more donors demanding improved box seating, a structure a la Southern Miss would actually fit well in Paulson.

RE: Stadium Renovations
The first thing I would like to see added to Bobcat Stadium would be another row of suites added to the pressbox. It was designed for 2 levels of suites, but only one level was built out. The demand for suites is high and they're good revenue.

See in these pictures where the pressbox is designed for 2 levels of suites:

hope you don't mind the photo fix

RE: Stadium Renovations
Tear everything down but the Athletics Center and rebuild a four sided (yes cover the bank) stadium that has some symmetry to it. Tired of the piecemeal look. Behind the south stands (bank end zone) add a food court and stadium store. Elevated building in the north end zone with new entrance gates allowing free flow of people under it. Building should house suites, club seats and a new Yosef Club room.

I'm actually not a fan of this. I love the look of apps stadium. The track should go but the stadium I feel is a highlight for the school. There are too many cookie cutter stadiums now days.

You must really love KBS. Cookie Cutter is one thing, having a few parts of the stadium the same is totally different. Lower east doesn't match lower west. Upper east doesn't match upper west. Wing of Owens doesn't match the main building. Owens doesn't match (brick) of the Athletics Center and columns.

Idk maybe just try and make some things a little more cohesive. I'm no expert just always thought it looked neat. But I also like Montana's stadium lol.

Gonna have to see more donations and giving before something like that could be supported.

We've seen expansion of club seating this year....if it fills up then that's a pretty large influx of money and higher dollar boosters. We'll see what happens.
