And/or an opportunity to bring in some added revenue as a Top 10 program like UVA playing in a 14,000 (usually filled) arena...can dish out some good coin to get some home non-conf games...and ECU would probably be able to cash most of it since its just a 3.5 hour bus ride (i.e. no need for air transportation and 2 sets of buses) away.

UVA has a beautiful arena for basketball. One of the nicest I've ever been in. I'll definitely make the drive to Hooville to see the Pirates play!

I think our goal is to do some type of tourney during the OOC season as well so that will probably account for 3 to 4 games for us.
Wonder why we don't try to do annual home and away series with teams like ODU/W&M/Hampton and any others in the Tidewater region?
ECU is in the savannah invitational, new tourney in savannah, GA
Mercer
Georgia Southern
Akron
East Carolina
Air Force
Radford
Two teams TBD
This, pretty sure that's all that's known. So we're likely missing 6 or 7 games.
@UNCW

So ECU's updated is...
@UVA
@Charlotte
College of Charleston
@UNCW
@Savannah Tourney

RE: 2016-2017 American BB OOC Schedules
I would expect ECU is trying to get home and home's with some regional programs that will give ECU the front end...and I would think it is working its way down that list before getting to low level schools it can just buy a game with.
Like A-10 schools, CAA schools and some regional CUSA schools or Sun Belt schools. We know no ACC schools will come to Greenville, but on some rare occasion. Maybe they can get back end of a home and home with a Big East or SEC school.

With all due respect, what have you guys done to earn a home and home with any P5 or Big East programs? If you’re trying to build a program and a fan base isn’t it more about having high profile games on your schedule than having the games at home?
Who cares if the ACC schools won’t make the trip to Greenville, the value is having them on your schedule to build fan interest and draw better quality recruits, that’s what’s important.
With the football history you guys have with UNC, NC State, Va Tech, and South Carolina how is it that you guys can’t get an away basketball game with at least 1 or 2 of them every season? Is anyone even asking them?

Wake Forest came to Greenville several years ago when they were ranked. (Al Farouq Aminu, Jeff Teague, Ish Smith, James Johnson, etc)
NC State has been to Greenville.
I don't recall anyone else in my time as a fan. (Since 2002)
I figured we'd get UNC to throw us a pity visit with the Lebo-UNC connection.

You can get an away game...just scheduled one with UVA. The issue is getting teams into Greenville.
The key is finding a program that NEEDS a home game this year and them wanting to recruit in your territory. My first call would be to VCU and Richmond for home and home series...there is a history there, there are plenty of alumni for ECU in Richmond and those schools like to recruit in NC. Outside of them, George Mason, ODU or GW, I would call up a P5 or Big East and see who needed a home game and would return the trip next year. Then ECU could just buy some games like UNCG, UNCA, whoever. Maybe you can get a Coastal to come and return that trip next year. Keep it regional, there are plenty of schools....but limit the Top 8 conference games to about 3 per year OOC.

P5 home games since my freshman year, no such teams have made the trip since Lebo took over.

Your missing my point, ECU is historically a 200+ RPI team, P5 schools and top mid majors aren’t going to agree to home and homes with you guys, not at this point, there is nothing in it for them. They can play at NC State, UNC, Duke, or Wake if they want to recruit NC and not risk taking a huge RPI hit if they lost.
Until you guys get the program on its feet you need to model what Monmouth did from a scheduling standpoint last season.
@UCLA
@USC
@ Drexel
@ Georgetown
@ Rutgers
Then schedule a good quality tournament like they did where they picked up Notre Dame, Dayton and USC again.
That’s 6 games against high profile teams and 2 programs in Drexel and Rutgers that would give you some name recognition and you have a shot at knocking them off.
That would leave you 5 games at home to schedule whomever you like.
It’s a mindset that needs to change to turn your program around. Build an OOC schedule that will give the kids some confidence AND toughen them up so you can compete in the AAC, not come into conference play with a bloated record with wins over a bunch of bad teams and a false sense of accomplishment.
Once you get the RPI inside 100 for a season or two you will have no issue getting those home and homes with the good programs.

I like this line-up, I hope they're televised.
I heard University of Phoenix will just be Lebo playing NBA 2K vs. some kid in Deluth.
It'll be on a big screen though. I'm sure it will draw roughly the same number as the regular games.
The real joke is our attendance numbers are basically the same as tulsas even with his ****** product.
Gotta love Tulsa smack. Haith shot his wad with 9 seniors with nothing to show for it. They have nobody coming in to replace the seniors of note.
I don't like smack from any fans, including Tulsa fans. However, it is absurd for an SMU fan to act superior to Tulsa in basketball.
Since the last time SMU actually won an NCAA game, back in 1988, Tulsa has won at least one NCAA game in 7 different NCAA tournaments. Haith's recruiting class is fine. We may be down next season, but most Tulsa fans are optimistic for the following few seasons.
Pony 94, you continue to follow Tulsa posts with persistent negative comments, not sure why.
