RE: 2016-2017 Men's basketball
Is Matthews leaving or not? Could be a real problem for him staying after making an announcement that he was leaving. Coaches and players will look at him sideways from now, make a decision and stick to it. I am not a fan of transfers at all but you can't be wishy washy on something like this. I have been told he can score but can't defend is the real reason he did not play.

I did not see him play at all-just going on what I was told from his practice time.

He's a smart kid. I think he lost his confidence for the first time in his basketball life. I do believe he'll overcome that.

That's easy to bounce back. He still has 3 more years of eligibility to get used to D1 ball.

A question I don't know the answer to is did he have similar confidence problems in practice or no?

I'm just going by what I saw in games. He had wide open 3 point opportunities that he passed up. Just looked hesitant.

And Coach would fuss at him to take those. So he should know that Coach believes in him.

RE: 2016-2017 Men's basketball
When the ball falls to you in the offense you have to shoot the ball. That does not always mean the coach thinks you will make the shot but is more about running the set than worrying about one guy missing shots. That can also be the reason you have the open shot-defense has to give up something and they know who is making shots and who is not.
