What's next?
With Idaho and NMSU *supposedly* out, what's next for the Sun Belt?

Coastal Carolina is on its way in, so do we sit at 10 football/12 all-sports members for a while? Are we going to enter into expansion mode immediately? What do you think is going on behind closed doors at this point?

On another note: what happens to NMSU and Idaho? Do they both drop to FCS? Do they try to ride it out as independents? What happens to those universities altogether?

Everyone should imagine what getting raided again would be like and then act accordingly.

Idaho drops NMSU goes Indy for awhile. SBC stays at 10-12 for awhile unless JMU and Missouri state want to join.

Hell, if we were smart enough to do that then Idaho and NMST wouldn't be booted......I just don't get this

I hope it wasn't a penny-wise, dollar-foolish decision. I have to think that further expansion will be announced soon. I'd prefer more teams to help protect from possible attrition.

So they are playing football in the SBC for 2017?

Add MSU and EKU for the 2018 season and we are set

RE: What's next?
UALR is not going to add football. We need to get WSU or MSU to join. Their situation in what was once a very strong BB league has changed and with COA a reality they could use the CFP money to help fund their other sports.

WSU is 0% chance and MSU isn't even good in basketball anymore and God knows their football is awful.

This move could have a tremendous impact on that.

I don't think we'll see any realignment anytime soon. If we do, I doubt the ripples make it our way. It seems the majority of the AD feel the same way.

We all know that conference realignment has always been so predictable.

Of course Benson and others will say that we are done and not looking to add. That portrays a position of power and stability. It also allows you to field calls and if/when the right school(s) call you can proclaim that they are so awesome that it was too good to pass up. You have to play the game.

True. The one and only hold up I see in expansion is the uncertainty with ESPN and their TV contracts. Would still be surprised if that is an actual hold up.

RE: What's next?
If the league wanted to expand, adding two in the east as full members would make a nice division in football and cut travel costs in other sports for a lot of teams if there were divisions in those as well.

I want to see your idea of east/west in the SBC.
