I'll be at Foley Field on Saturday. I'll be the one in the Georgia Southern hat.

I was thinking about heading up on Sunday. I'm very interested in the two freshmen we have starting this weekend

RE: Baseball Opening Weekend
Don t know what to expect this year. I think we will have 5 of 8 position players starting for the first time and right now our top 3 starters to start year are sophomore freshman and freshman.

A new team in many ways

Challenger the Friday night starter is a Junior -- the other two starters are freshmen

Lots of sunshine, highs in the upper 70's...lots of cold beers, good food, fresh roasted peanuts...tailgating...watching the Cajuns play with about 4K people...shoukd be fun. Hopefully start off with a sweep but it won't be easy. We are playing SHSU who's head coach is Matt Deggs...he was our hitting coach 2 years ago when we went 58-10 and hosted a Super.

After sweeping UGA at home last year, if we take the series in Athens they'll never schedule is again.

We're 7-2 against them in the last 3 years. This is the last leg of the 2 home/home so we'll see if we get put back on the schedule

This isnt football...even the big schools need good RPI teams to play that are in close range. You are more likely to be removed from the schedule if they were 9-0 against and you had a horrible RPI.

They have dropped us in the past after a series win. After several years they will add us back on the schedule.

Yup. Around the 2003-05 range we took a few from them one year before sweeping two home games and taking 3/4 in Athens the next season. It was almost a decade before they showed up on the schedule again.

Schedules circulate... If they dropped you because of the series lost they would never add you again. Both teams need openings for a schedule to happen. We have beaten LSU plenty and they never dropped us fur that. We stopped that series for a while after the dugouts cleared in a game which is understandable to let all the guys in on those two teams leave. I've really never seen a group of people think everyone is scared of them like Georgia southern. Not everything is a conspiracy.

That's a difficult tournament field to be breaking in 3 freshmen

RE: Baseball Opening Weekend
Apparently the mid-week starter/4th starter is also a true freshman. All four were highly-rated NC prospects.

The big question is late-game management. Jones left guys in way too long and then replaced them with 2-3 runners on, putting the bullpen in a bad spot that usually they couldn't get out of. Got a new pitching coach so he might be more forceful in making timely changes.

Of course, we beat UGA like a drum and always don't do that great in the RPI thanks to having more than our fair share of bad mid-week losses.

Give us a little leeway when talking about UGA because in this case I think he's right. That's what I think happened too. And because **** 'em.
