Sun Belt ESPN3 Unique Viewers
How did Georgia State Football Do On ESPN Channels

Quote:The Panthers averaged 16,519 unique viewers in its 10 games streamed on either ESPNU or ESPN3. The number of unique viewers was the fifth-highest average in the Sun Belt. Arkansas State led the league with an average of 33,238. A unique viewer is a standard metric of how many devices the live event was streamed on.

Can anyone fill in the blanks?

1. stAte
2.?
3.?
4.?
5. Georgia State
6.?
7.?
8.?
9.?
10.?
11.?
12.?

Judging by the viewer breakdown of GSU games, I would think Southern, ULL, App, or Troy fills in 2-4.

Quote:As part of the program, NIU personnel produced 36 events that attracted
59,556 unique viewers from across the country and around the world. More
than ONE MILLION total minutes of Huskie Athletics action was viewed

app.

I'm not sure where the other MAC schools are with the numbers but NIU had 59,556 unique viewers last year.

That 59K is not average though, is it? That appears to be how many unique viewers watched NIU for the season. Average would be lower.

so 59,556 total viewers from 36 events = 1,656 vewers/event.

No, it could be an average of 45K but 59K unique watched at least one game.

RE: Sun Belt ESPN3 Unique Viewers
I am not surprised that stAte does well. We typically have had the higher rated weeknight games in the SBC going back before the departure of schools. The whole time that CUSA was looking to add Miami and Dallas markets was amusing. We move the needle more than those programs because there are only 2 FBS programs in our state and no pro sports. If the hogs are not playing, most sports fans are going to watch at least part of our games if they are on TV.

All of our conference viewers are unique and special. Singling one out could be damaging to the others self esteem.

RE: Sun Belt ESPN3 Unique Viewers
I remember reading a report that indicated that the MAC averaged around 3K viewers per game on ESPN-3 during the 2014 season. No idea what they did in 2015. That must not be as bad as it sounds since they got a 10 fold raise from their renegotiated contract no long after that.

59,556 unique viewers watched AT LEAST one event. They may have watched more.

Let's say school X has 10 unique viewers for 8 games on ESPN3. Joe watched all 8, Sam watched 7, Mike watched 6, Bill watched 5, Bob watched 4, Stan and Lou watched 3, Dean watched 2, and Blake and Tom each watched 1.

That's 10 unique but it isn't an average of 1.25 viewers per game, it is an average of 5 viewers per game.

I thought that was the point of the media market debate? I thought that if you are in a big media market, more people will watch?

RE: Sun Belt ESPN3 Unique Viewers
Performance is needed as well Remember we were 2-6 going into Texas State after a demoralizing loss to ULL(fake punt on our 20... in the 4th... with 10 min left). GSU didn't start tuning back in until the Troy game.

Vs. Charlotte, 44,075 - Loss
At New Mexico State, 11,732 - Won(I actually watched this on Altitude as it was apart of my friends sports package on AT&T)
Vs. Liberty, 8,975 - Loss
Vs. Appalachian State, 12,336 - Loss
At Arkansas State, 13,500 - Loss
Vs. Louisiana-Lafayette, 14,111 - Loss
At Texas State, 5,684
Vs. South Alabama, 7,672
Vs. Troy, 15,335
At Georgia Southern, 31,767

Southern averaged - 17,350(I divided by 11, because I think the WV game was not on E3)
State averaged - 16,518(Divided by 10 as our bowl, Oregon, & Ball State were not on E3)

So with Southern having the upper hand with history, tradition, and a better record, we were less than 1,000 behind. You also had a game versus UGA to help out your unique number. After all...
Quote:The Red Wolves’ game against Missouri featured the most unique viewers (139,960)
So yeah. I think you have to give us Marketz.

but the UGA game was also nationally televised, so it is hard to say if that really bumped up our average, since this article is talking about streaming. This wouldn't count people who watched it on tv instead of streaming.

if anything, the UGA game could have brought our average down.

I know a lot of people who streamed it, including my wife, and SEC games are the most streamed games in college football while still being the most televised but fine. We will take the UGA game out. That is 19,085. It is a difference of 2,500 now. Still not that much.

How many games are people dividing that by? TXST had their game vs FSU on ESPNews, 2 on ESPNU, 2 games were on regional TV with ESPN3 picking up the feed.
That's 5 games not directly on ESPN3; even if it was made available. So, how are they coming up with that number? (or am I thinking this out wrong?)
