2016 AAC Baseball Season Thread: Tulane wins AAC, Conf. Tournament week
College Baseball is a revenue sport is the SEC. Can it be in the AAC too?

Last year the AAC had four teams out of seven in the NCAA regional (Houston, Tulane, ECU, South Florida) with Houston hosting. The AAC was the #2 RPI baseball conference, behind only the SEC

Absolutely. This country still pretty well likes baseball, and there are quite a few fantastic baseball programs in the conference. TV coverage of college baseball grows a bit each year. Will it be a huge chunk of the pie, no, but it'll help.

Played with mostly freshman and sophomores last year, should be better.

I think the attendance numbers speak for themselves....

And that was a down year coming off the end of an ailing coaches career with a few years of no post-season.

Hope so. Would be better for the conference if you guys were more consistent this year. Also, anyone who plays against LSU is a 04-cheers of mine. Please beat them. I'll be able to hear the wailing and nashing of teeth all the way down the river.

So you avg. 2000 a game and you consider yourself a baseball town. Seriously. The Reds draw more than 59000 for a couple of games ( your whole seasons worth ), that's a baseball town, plus those who watch UC play.

I think its great that Houston is on that list, very hard in a pro town to avg. high numbers. Notice there is very, very few pro towns on that list. Good for UH.

You are right. I've been caught up on the trolling at times and reacted negatively. I stop by every now and then to see if there are any serious threads but they are extremely rare. And if one is started it usually gets derailed and turns in to arguing and bashing.

I am looking forward to baseball but I sure hope UC improves. It's going to be tough with their schedule and playing in this league.

They were in fact the youngest team in div 1 last year - it was well documented. Hopefully that year of playing experience will help them.

Baseball is more important at East Carolina than basketball

College baseball's problem will always be that it's not the best players competing at their level. With the minor league MLB taking the majority of the cream out of high school, people just don't have the same interest.

Now, college baseball can still be a positive, but people will always gravitate towards the best, and the best players at the level are in the minors.

Thats not true on the whole. A ton of players choose college over the minor leagues every year coming out of high school.

"Top 2" polls? I wasn't aware there was such a thing.

Baseball America has us at #12. How about instead of claiming which are and aren't "top polls", we just make it a habit of going with the highest ranking for each of our teams?

Now, college baseball can still be a positive, but people will always gravitate towards the best, and the best players at the level are in the minors.

Thats not true on the whole. A ton of players choose college over the minor leagues every year coming out of high school.

Yes it absolutely is true on the whole. SOME players choose college over the minor leagues, but the best players usually choose the minor leagues so they can prep for a career in baseball.
