Yep. That must be it. But the Rockets should bounce back tomorrow without any problem. After all, they're only playing Florida State (currently ranked 15th in the country).

I think in college softball they have a mercy rule but they don't have one in baseball. Even so ...

Here's a link to the Florida A&M game story. And I hope the Rockets make me look bad for my post about tonight's Florida State game. Some egg on my face would be fine if it meant a UT win. I think it was just losing to FAMU 12-4 didn't fill me with confidence about their chances in a game against the 15th ranked team in the country.

Rockets doing well through 4 innings, leading Florida State 2-1 despite the fact that UT doesn't have a hit yet: in the top of the fourth with one out, a hit batter, a stolen base, a walk, a groundout to advance the runners to second and third followed by an error gave Toledo two runs.

Seminoles tied it in the sixth and it's 2-2 in the top of the ninth. According to live stats Rockets are still hitless.

Rockets were no-hit (if live stats is accurate) and lost 3-2. In the bottom of the ninth there was a leadoff walk, a sacrifice, a wild pitch and a single ended it.

Good effort (much closer game than I expected) but still a loss.

Here's a link to the game story. Rockets are off today (the 10th) and face Charlotte (according to the game story) or Jacksonville (according to the schedule) on March 11th. Both of those can't be right unless they're playing two games against different teams (which happens). So I don't know if either the story will be corrected or changed. But as of about 5:30 Thursday morning, there's that apparent discrepancy.

Of course, it's REALLY early too. Maybe I'm not awake yet and misread something.

Yeah, they sure did. All I could tell from live stats was that it was a single to win the game. Didn't know it was a squeeze play until I saw the article.

Rockets lose the series opener to Jacksonville 2-1.

Rockets end a 9-game losing streak with a 6-1 win over Jacksonville.

Rockets only allowed 1 hit. And the run the Dolphins scored was unearned: they got their run without a hit.

The Jacksonville series and the spring break trip ends Sunday with one more game .

What's their record now?

2 wins and 12 losses, with 1 tie against Ohio State. By my count, six of their losses are by one run.

That was #2 on ESPN plays this morning. I saw it at about 5:45am - so I was only about half awake. Not sure if it made the list today (Palm Sunday) or yesterday.
