Too funny...... Bear Scat fan talking arena smack, all the while UC plays in a rec center where 1/2 capacity is hideaway seating to accommodate the daily Duck-Duck-Goose tournaments.

Isn't UC's capacity about 5,000 higher than Tulsa lol not to mention their attendance is higher

Cincy probably has more people in their athletic department than Tulsa has students.

Even UC finally realizes bigger (cheaper) isn't better.
Tulsa's nice 8,300 seat arena (opened in late 1998) is almost the perfect size college arena without a bad seat in the house.
Before new video scoreboard was installed
Meanwhile, UC is finally coming up with plans to "blow up" their giant bleacher filled and mostly upper deck box...as their renovation will finally make it into a smaller basketball "arena" over the next few years.

And just like I said to the Memphis guy, we'll enjoy the postseason and while you'll watch as the best--err, second best team not in it.
If I hadn't been relevant in college hoops since the 1980's I'd stop talking smack.....enjoy your postseason, you guys have fallen in love with NIT invites from time to time. Enjoy this while you can, we'll be back to kicking Houston around the court in no time

no, honestly, we would just sign a lease at FedEXForum where they curtain off the upper deck, and just block off the access points.
you could then run Tiger games with less staff needed, for lower cost.
we're not leaving FEF anytime soon.

The bleacher seats aren't a problem - about half of Rupp Arena and almost ALL of Allen Fieldhouse are bleacher seats, and they have no problem filling them. Just put a product on the court worth watching and the people will come.

Point about bleachers and larger capacity was that was a popular design for decades...as teams tried to cram in as many seats as possible...thinking that's the best way to generate revenue.
Now, "right size" buildings (in many cases, with lower capacity, like UC will do with their renovation of Fifth Third Arena), that have higher revenue generating amenitites (i.e. more suites, more club seats, loge boxes, premium chairback sections, etc...), is usually a much better way to help maximize one's hoop revenue.
UK has been looking at ways to renovate Rupp but trying to add some of these new high revenue amenities, but that will mean much of the upper deck bleacher seating at Rupp will go by the wayside....upsetting thousands of diehard season tix holders/donors.

This is a dumb thread. After Pastner gets canned, Memphis will be back to putting 15,000 butts in the seats in no time.

No Tournament wins since the 1984 Final Four yet we still have more Final Fours than Memphis, asterisks or not. Oh well, at least you had Lil' Penny and Coach Cal.

First, the "bleacher" seats are only an issue because a Tulsa poster brought them up and made them an issue.
Second, UC's attendance is pretty good... There's not many complaints about UC's attendance.
Third, "product" is a tricky thing. You can win...and win big...against certain opponents and hardy stifle the yawns. Rivalries are huge. That's one of the things that realignment has wreaked havoc on.
