Agree with you 100%. Memphis already gets its fair share of top recruits but you can bet other schools will use this against UM in recruiting....why would you want to go play in front of less than 6k in Memphis when you could come to our school and play in front of close to 9-10k a night

Butts in seats is not just a Memphis problem. Its a problem everywhere.

College football has challenges but college basketball support is really down across the country.

A lot of it is because of realignment. Realignment that has broken up traditional basketball rivalries for the almighty football dollar.

Announced attendance was 12,492 as the free tix given out probably helped a few more show up than they had in the past (been averaging around 5,800 or so).

Game vs a team ranked like SMU should bring out a good crowd...and that one game should make it easy for Memphis to hit their 6,000 actual average attendance goal.

I'm not too worried about it. Once a coaching change is made, the fans will come back. The lower bowl is sold out ticket wise, the people just aren't using them this year.

I'm hoping a ranked SMU team, and a hopefully (knock on wood) 16-11 Memphis squad, on a two game win streak, can get 7k in actual turnstile count.

then Tulsa is senior day...Shaq deserves a decent crowd.

it sucks to lose money, but it will be made up next year.
