Meh. How'd that work out for Bowling Green? Isn't the all time GS vs App even or within one game? I'd say App would represent one of the most, if not the most, prolific FCS teams over the past 14 years or so. GS took a 7 seven year dip is sh***ville during that time. I'm not a believer of the time to prep for the gimmicky peewee league offense thing.

17-13-1 all time, App. 13-11 since Georgia Southern made the move up to join App in the Southern Conference, which might be to what you are referring to as it was only 1 game until this year.

The official record is 16-13-1. I'm not sure what the disputed game was.

RE: Alabama, LSU and Clemson lead the way in 1-128 projected 2016 rankings
In the FCS we had more hardware but App squeezed out a few more wins. No doubt in part to their coaching stability our glorious AD hitting the reset button on our program with a nuclear disaster hire followed up by another bad hire before getting us back on track. Either way neither is claiming dominance. We were both banging our heads on the FCS ceiling for no less than a decade. Nothing more could to be done to pull away from each other or any other top 10 FCS program. It will be interesting to see, now that at least for a good while we finally have a ton of room to grow, how things go for each program.

Biased of course but I think GS has way less obstacles in the way. I know we will be still sending out a bunch of FCS recruits this year and the FBS classes will just be starting to make a significant impact so we are years away from knowing anything for sure.

Next year unless the ArkSt QB situation is horrible I still think they are the favorites, App second and GS third. We still will likely have no passing game and that will likely cost us two conference games maybe three if you throw in an upset. I don't think App or ArkSt loses more than one conf game. So unless the GoDaddy bowl was Upshaw's coming out party and he can repeat that performance on the reg IMO we will finish third. Year four IMO will be the real beginning to GS FBS journey. Said it the day we declared we were moving up on here and GSUfans.com that it would be at best year three most likely four before we would BEGIN to see what GS would be at the FBS level as our first FBS recruits along with the extra schollies would begin to emerge. All the success we have had the last two years has been just bonus for me.

I think the problem comes from one of the pre-WW2 era games not showing up on some sites like cfbdatawarehouse. At least that was the case a while back.

It's safe to say that GS and App enjoy a pretty intense rivalry as a result of the many competive games over the years. GS's contribution to the rivalry spans 7 coaching changes.

31 October 22, 2015 Boone, NC Appalachian State 31–13

The dispute lies in game #3. Georgia Southern has vague information on their 1934 season, but have recorded a 22-13 win over Appalachian State and also a 6-7 loss. Appalachian State, on the other hand, has the 13-22 loss, but they record a 7-6 win over "Southern College" in Florida on November 23rd. Presumably, that's where the dispute lies.

Most older records were put together piecemeal after the fact, so it's difficult to say which is right. First of all, you wouldn't assume that Georgia Southern had recorded somewhere that they played the 6-7 game, but on the other hand, it might have been assumed from information elsewhere. Officially Appalachian State is 16-13-1 vs Georgia Southern, while Georgia Southern is 13-17-1 vs Appalachian State.

Unless this is NY Yankee baseball, I don't look at the 1930's games.

Georgia Southern and App State started playing one another in 1987 and since then App State is winning the series. That's all that matter to me about this series. Have to win 3 of the next 4 and make this series tight

It's the second 1934 game in Statesboro. I'll have to do some more research as I nerd out over our early football history. Interestingly, the first 1934 game was only our second trip outside the state.
