Vernon/Parrish
Did anyone catch Gary Parrish on the Chris Vernon show today around 12:30? Some love them. Some hate them, but they normally fact check before reporting a story. Parrish had someone from the forum send him the tickets scanned per game numbers. Based on what he has seen as of today the school will not average 6,000 per game thus the school will not receive a $800,00 payout from the forum per the lease. The school also probably has not met the profit margins of the lease.

For the few Pastner pumpers remaining. The numbers don't lie. Go ahead and bash me if you want (I have been to every game and 2 road games), but this is very depressing. You obviously don't care about the school or athletic department. With additional lost ticket revenues, donations and other items it will cost over 4million per year to keep him

We have had home games with Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Cincy and UConn so far and we cant even average 6,000? wow

We have a weak fan base. They quit going to games, what can you say. Hopefully JP will be gone after the season and then the fans will flock back to the forum.

we do not have a weak fan base. we have a fan base much like that of 99% of other athletic teams. More people show up when you are good or give them something to believe in. I know that is shocking to some.

If anything, our fanbase is stronger than the average bear....other programs would have seen an earlier drop-off, not waiting until 6-7 years in.

I don't think we have a weak fan base either. I think we have an exhausted and frustrated fan base. Memphis basketball has the name, money, and arena to be better than this

We have only beaten 4 teams with a .500 record this year.
This coach has only had 4 4-year players while here (Goodwin, Joe Jackson, Chris Crawford and DJ) 03-puke

Did you see that huge crowd at Houston last night? The flagship?

But, this is pitiful. Whoever is to blame, it is pitiful.

Exactly. We may moan and we may groan but many of us kept going to games and spending our hard earned cash to support Pastner, the players, and the program for years. When we saw that the University didn't seem to care about the current situation while the stalls were still turning so we resorted to not spending. Now that the seats are not being filled the University is feeling the squeeze and may make a move, hopefully.

Did we or did we not meet the terms of the contract?

Starting to understand why people think memphians and basketball fans are idiots, probably, based on what i have seen, might not

Unsure what you are asking but it looks like the payout is in full if we average over 10k and then is prorated based on attendance to 6k average attendance. If we are under 6k in attendance, we don't get a payout at all.

Worked with Porter. He didn't have a $10.6M "buyout," and football always has been way less important when it comes to revenue streams the school can depend on, but if you're costing more than it will take to "retire" you and basic economic principles are guiding the school's decisions, you're gone.

Releasing crappy stats while trying to convince P5 isnt ideal. Thats why Bowen lied.

I don't think the P5 conferences really care about basketball attendance.
The reason it is such a hot topic locally is basketball is the primary revenue source for U of M athletics

RE: Vernon/Parrish
I think our fan base is smart, but the same time, not very tolerant. I no longer live in Memphis but usually attend several games a year. I have not attended a Tigers game in 2 years. Here is why: Of course I want to support our players, its not their fault. But I am a realist, I know exactly what the outcome of the season is going to be before we even play 3 games. When the talent isn't there, it just isn't going to happen. Add in the fact that I have no confidence in Pastner's ability to evaluate talent, create a gameplan, and manage lineups, than I choose to watch from home. This team has not excited me in the least little bit the last 2 years. If you have seen a preview to a movie and it looks like it sucks, and everyone around you that has seen it tells you it sucks, do you waste your time and money going to see it?

I applaud all fans that still go regularly, but admit it, for the most part your experience is miserable. I am not capable of going to the game, putting a happy face on, and clapping for mediocrity like everything is ok. At a certain point, the fans that do go to every game, cheer, and say we'll get em next time Josh...your a huge part of the problem. This isn't pee wee or high school sports. It is high level athletics in which a lot of money is invested by a lot of people. People like Tim Welsh and Michael Wilson who say Memphis needs to be happy with the status they have because they are not championship mettle are the problem. Memphis is one of the most prestigious basketball cities in the country, we should have a college program representative of that.

Just not true. It's a vote of no-confidence by the fans. Doesn't happen very often. Last time, I think, was 19-20 years ago.
