we do not have a weak fan base. we have a fan base much like that of 99% of other athletic teams. More people show up when you are good or give them something to believe in. I know that is shocking to some.

I don't think we have a weak fan base either. I think we have an exhausted and frustrated fan base. Memphis basketball has the name, money, and arena to be better than this

We have only beaten 4 teams with a .500 record this year.
This coach has only had 4 4-year players while here (Goodwin, Joe Jackson, Chris Crawford and DJ) 03-puke

Wow, think about that for a minute...4 players here for 4 years...that's amazing...04-jawdrop

ONLY...it the team has a winning record. If they don't there is no loyality to the school or the program. Just a bunch of band wagon jumpers. This season proved it.

For the few Pastner pumpers remaining. The numbers don't lie. Go ahead and bash me if you want (I have been to every game and 2 road games), but this is very depressing. You obviously don't care about the school or athletic department. With additional lost ticket revenues, donations and other items it will cost over 4million per year to keep him

We have had home games with Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Cincy and UConn so far and we cant even average 6,000? wow

what numbers? you have not provided numbers...you gave a giggly little girls radio show opinion.

if you actually had some real numbers, I'd be interested in seeing them...but you don't

Calkins has a request pending, he's trying to get them through the legal system (don't know if it's FIA but something like that). If he does, get ready for a scathing story.

Playing in CUSA and AAC hasn't helped. This issue has been building for a long time. Fans want exciting games to attend. Our overall home schedule has been weak for the past decade, primarily because of conference. Fans can deal with that when you're going undefeated in that weak conference. When you're in the bottom half of that weak conference, it's not worth your hard earned money.

This makes it EVEN worse:

The fact that CJP/Bowen touted the good grades of the BB team (API, I think it's called). I guarantee you that none of the players that transferred - or didn't stay 4 years - graduated from the University of Memphis.

I would rather have 5 players graduate and have a poor API than having a good API and having 2 players graduate.

4 players stayed for 4 years in a 7 year coaching run. Wow, that is really bad.

which brings us back to why Memphis actually wants to renegotiate...

then CUSA went to 16 games and it became more difficult to sign home-home contracts...

now the AAC plays an 18 game schedule, and we have like ZERO wiggle room.

think about it...30 games (unless we play in a preseason tourney)...9 aac home games, 9 aac road games...that leaves 12 games, 9 of which HAVE to be at FedExForum

that's why we want to renegotiate...

Go to the games and see for yourself, damn building is empty. Pastner has and is ruining our basketball program to the point that most don't care anymore. It's called apathy.

I agree about the home schedules being weak. But we could still put up impressive season attendance averages in spite of our conference affiliation. Which made it all the more impressive. And spoke to just how strong this fanbase is/was.

We are no longer doing that. That is the whole point.

I mean, $800,000 is a number, and a pretty big one at that.

Yup.

I would guess that if a new coach were hired and as long as it wasn't a total fail hire, a good number of people would reinvest in the program and getting back to 10k in the building wouldn't be an issue.

Here are some numbers to hold you over until after the season when attendance totals will be released

You obviously don't support the team by going to games or you could see this with your own eyes

Only 4 players have made it all 4 years with this coach including Shaq
Only 4 wins this season over teams with a .500 or better record
This coach started his career 0-13 vs ranked teams and did not beat one until 2013
Currently 5-25 vs ranked teams for his career
This coach has lost 10 home games in the last 14 months

I have better things to do than argue about something that will be over in about a month.
