Ya, that is why I was expecting the coach to switch things up beyond putting undersized Markel on their hottest player... But then again, that would involve JP adjusting from his original plan, so...

JP did the same thing with Chris Crawford in the year of the kings. After playing 3yrs at SG he played the wing/SF as a senior and was torched several times. Remember the Florida game where Casey Prather went off scoring at will? Prather averaged 60% from the field and 40% from 3. Problem was he could easily shoot over the top of Chris just like Pollard (6-8) could shoot over Markel. Josh didn’t make adjustments with either and he never does.

I’ve been say for years Josh always finds some flimsy excuse to go small and give opponents an advantage from the opening tip. He rarely adjusts and just screams from the bench like he can’t identify the problem(s) or is too stubborn to make changes.

Playing small ball no matter what is the primary reason I’ve given up on him ever becoming a good coach.

RE: Pastner: "They hit shots"
OK Houston hits hots - but why? Because Memphis played mostly ineffective defense. I understand a guy getting hot but once a guy hits 2-3 shots, good defense shuts him down. When it is recognized that your team doesn't have a defender capable of individually shutting down a hot shooter, you don't leave that defender on an island to be beat time & again. Instead you adjust the defense to deny the ball to that shooter & you provide immediate help to the primary defender when the hot shooter has worked (& made to work hard) to get the ball at a place on the floor he'd rather not be. But instead we watched the same hot shooter get the ball when he wanted, where he wanted against a defender on an island where he used the defender. Like I've said in comments in several other losses, the effort & talent was there to have won that game........too bad, very disappointing.

If that is what you got from the interview then there are some qualify mental health facilities in the area.

They hit shots they will never hit again in another game this season. Pollard was unconscious all night. Was in a trap from Goodwyn and Lawson with shot clock running out and threw it up off the backboard and it went in. They shot 70% in second half on mainly jump shots.

Maybe you should take your own advice and check yourself into one. You've got to be trolling, no one can be as dumb as you sound by the never ending dumb@ss posts that you consistently make.

probably just a quirk of the game, but it seems like 30 seconds to a minute after CJP calls time out there is a media time out.

Those three fouls on us at the Houston end in that one sequence was BS. And Houston has a guy who is unconscious with a career night.

There is that. It's not what costs us the game ultimately but it didn't help us any.

I don't get why people keep saying things like this. He's the same sorry coach with the same problems he's had his entire time here. He hasn't checked out; he's just a bad coach.

I don't know. Maybe that's true, maybe not. While not a "sunshine pumper," I'll admit that I've tried to give the benefit of the doubt, and that I support him because I want things to work out with Josh on the bench. But I am also a realist. There are things I see that I don't understand--substitutions, for example. After all this time we still don't really have a consistent rotation. Guys sit all year, then start. Guys start, then sit. It seems very whimsical, and it's difficult for a team to gather any momentum when/if the look is always changing.

Checked out? Honestly, part of me believes that is true. He has acted differently this year; in fact, you can boil it down further to the last month or so. And really, a big part of me says I wouldn't blame him if he has. He has been brutally criticized over his tenure--some of which has been fair, a lot of it has not--and I'm not sure that any of us could handle things the way he has. None of us will ever have to deal with anything close to what he's seen. That's just a fact, in my opinion.

The clock definitely seems to be ticking on his time at Memphis, and if that time comes soon, I'll be sad to see him leave, even if it is probably best for both parties at this point.

Your constant excuses for him are ridiculous. I'd love nothing more than for Josh to mature into a great coach and do it here but let's face it, that isn't going to happen. At some point you have to see it for what it is, and it aint good. I hate it for him but I hate seeing us devolve the way we have even more, we are sliding into the abyss of mediocrity and it's people like you who enable it with your irrational loyalty to a man and not the program. If you think his performance is praiseworthy I can help you check out some of those mental health facilities.

What dude doesn't acknowledge is that there is always a reason one team wins and another loses. It's not unique to Memphis - you could go up and down every decent program's schedule and say "well, if X, Y, Z wouldn't have happened in that game, then..."

The problem is that there is always a new excuse for every loss. And the bigger problem is that there are already 10 losses.

That's 5 out of 7 seasons with double digit losses and out of the other two seasons, one was a 9 loss season.
