Kevin Ollie. Missing the tournament two years in a row is unacceptable.

Coach Dunphy has never been on the hot seat by the Temple administration. However, there is a good chunk of Temple's fan base that is not happy with him for two major reasons - being an average recruiter (at best) and rarely winning in the NCAA tournament. It also does not help that Temple has missed the last 2 NCAA tournaments and looked likely to miss a third until the last couple weeks (they are still clearly on the bubble but things look better than earlier this season).
As other posters have noted, he is a very good gameday coach (which helps make up for his lack of recruiting) and a very good representative of the university.
Coach Dunphy has a contract through 2021 and has no intentions of stepping down or retiring any time soon.
Look, I appreciate you know your program better than I do,but the fact is Temple got f#(ked last year . Your resume was good enough to make the tournament. The man is set to make it this year with plenty of good wins. College basketball as a whole is down,They could go far.
Whether they were screwed over last year or not is irrelevant to Temple fans. I think most agree they should have made it but the end result is they did not.
And there are no guarantees Temple makes it this year. They are literally on the bubble right now and could go either way.
Dunphy would eliminate just about all of his critics with one trip to the sweet sixteen. I hope he pulls it off someday.

This pretty much sums it up. I don't feel comfortable that this year’s team is the one to do it, but I guess we will know a lot more after the Nova game. BTW I’m not looking past the USF game Sunday, I’m cautiously optimistic but no game is a given, this Temple team has proven it can lose to anyone, home or away.

His NC doesn't buy him a little slack?

Yea - It does. I'm just not high on him. The smart part of my knows that he needs more time, but the pessimistic New Englander side of me thinks he is regressing and cannot coach offense.

Yep. His seat isn't cold yet. If the same thing happens next year, then people will start yelling.

Ed Conroy,Tulane's men's basketball coach will be gone by the end of the season. He is a disaster!

New Englanders are still pessimistic after the run they've had in pro sports this past decade? Lol

It buys him a lot of slack. As does Jim Calhouns endorsement

Whats interesting about Ollie is that he is also going for the quick fix (i.e. took in two 5th year Seniors this year) instead of trying to build more quality depth.
UCONN should never have a problem landing top HS players from across the country year after year after year...especially with a HC who recently won a national championship.

Despite Calhoun's success, UCONN rarely saw a top 10 recruiting class. Unlike the "Bluebloods," we haven't really capitalized on the one-and-done market. Most of UCONN's National Championships have been led by Senior Guards.
In terms of the "quick fix"....Ollie has a top 10 class for next season. Calhoun had the ability to recognize and develop talent. We shall see how Ollie measures up.
