Houston scored on 29 of 37 second half possessions
I was sitting at a bar, having a beer (or 6), watching the 2nd half and thinking ... my god, have they scored on every possession?

Well, I checked when I got home, Houston scored on 29 out of 37 second half possessions (quick review of the play by play). I'm sure we would have won had we just made shots though ...

Seriously ... we gave up 58 second half points. Brutal. Never tried anything different, how about a zone?

Josh told them to go out and have fun and that's what they are doing. D is not fun to this team who doesn't have pride to play it. Also the playing time given to Randall and Johnson tonight was ridiculous. One doesn't care and the other is NOT READY.

One of those possessions was when UH decided to run out the clock, or else they'd have scored 100.

Read this morning, "We played good defense most of the time, they just played better offense". Haven't been a fan of Pastner since the 4 Kings, but wasn't vocal about my displeasure either. Want To Say It LOUD And CLEAR!!!!! FIRE HIM YESTERDAY!!!! 03-hissyfit 03-banghead 03-weeping 05-deadhorse

This is the thing that bothers me most about Pastner. You don't give up 58 points in a half and then say defense wasn't a problem. You have to own it, you can't get better when you are in denial.

As for good defense, that just makes me laugh. The defense was awful, couldn't keep anyone in front of us. At the 10 minute mark, I was begging for him to TRY something different. The only adjustment I saw was that he put Markel on Pollard ... who promptly used his height advantage and posted him up, so he traded one disadvantage for another.

Our program will be a mess but so will his career. Right now he is torpedoing Memphis and planning on walking away w 10 million and a fresh start. Make him finish out this mess he has made or clean it up. He may be worse than, well whatever, I say Memphis needs to keep him the next 4 years and watch his career go down as well. No sense in giving him a bonus to walk away.

you do realize we can't afford to do that. Basketball pays the bills and those checks are bouncing right now.

They did try different things. C'mon man. They played zone, man to man, they even did a double team defense on that dude who went crazy. That guy banked in a shot from the corner...you can't explain that kind of shot. The defense was not good in second half but they did do different stuff, it just didn't work. This team is horrible in the second half of games.

Different things but the same results. One lucky shot doesn't account for the rest of the lay-ups and wide open lane jumpers. A. Woodson is not a good man on man defender, why do you play man? Shaq and Dedric don't box out when in the zone. And rarely do you see help defense coming into the paint. Dude shuffles in players so often, that even when we're rolling with a certain group, he has to **** that up with a change in the line-up. He won't fight for his players and they won't fight for him. They play hard for each other, but have no leader out there. And please don't call Shaq a leader! 05-nono 03-shhhh Just Sayin 07-coffee3

RE: Houston scored on 29 of 37 second half possessions
Horrific second half.

They made jump shots, open jumpers, contested jumpers, they received extra shots with weird foul calls, they made free throws (a lot after Shaq shot one at the beginning of the half), pretty much everything. Tired defensive effort, great shooting- ghastly second half.

Big picture (which some can only bring up) a bad deal for us and our coach. Small picture...holy crap- simply kept scoring...last chance to keep contro was before a careless turnover by Randall where we had a chance to go bac up by double digits. After that the free throw floodgates opened and that was all she wrote.

If we let the wrong coach stay around too long, we become Houston.... a program with a rich history and long time basketball tradition that can only draw about 1500 to a home conference game.

In football terms, that would be like, "We played great defense! The other team just scored a lot of touchdowns!"

Not sure what I'm saying anymore, just doesn't seem right for him to ride of into the sunset to start afresh, while our program is nuked
