"UC Berkeley has been overspending by millions of dollars a year since 2013, a precarious course that prompted Chancellor Nick Dirks to announce Wednesday the possibility of layoffs and cuts to intercollegiate athletics to balance the budget."
"Campus records show that athletics spent $9 million more than they took in last year, the first time sports reserves were too depleted to fully cover the gap. In 2013-14, athletics overspent by $4 million, and the year before by $2 million."
That sounds like La Tech to me except they started losing many, many years prior to 2013. Last fiscal years loss per Louisiana Legislative Auditors office was $9,683,929.
You seem like the kind of guy that holds some serious grudges. Who makes this off the wall connection even if true

My older brother played juco baseball one year on a cross country scholarship. All he had to do was run a mile in under 10 minutes.

If they sponsor 28 sports, I feel confidant they can easily cut men's and women's "sports that do nothing but drain from the athletic budget."
Looking at their website. Im sure mens Crew, rugby, golf and gymnastics really pack em in. not to mention the same sports in womens plus lacross and field hockey.

But make sure to invest in kitchens and laundry rooms, you know, to give the gals something to do between hair appointments and classwork for their How To Attract a Husband degrees.
And leave all the men's sports that do nothing but drain from the athletic budget alone. Because penises.
Aw, a butthurt SJW. Did I trigger your feels?

Hardly. Just trying to figure out why you'd cut all the women's non-revenue sports while leaving all the men's ones intact.

Scholarship dollars (you can carve up a scholarship between more than one athlete).
Not for football or basketball. Football participants cannot be on any other athletic scholarships but baseball participants can be on football scholarship.

USM has had several instances of baseball or basketball players play both baseball/football or mens basketball/football in the last 10 years. Austin Davis started out playing baseball but gave that partial scholarship up to walk on to the football team and then earned a scholarship and become and 4 year starter. He is now with the Cleveland Browns. Also, former basketball player Demar Dotson played basketball for 2 years and when he joined the football team he had to be transferred from basketball scholarship to football scholarship. He now plays for Tampa Bay.

probably b/c most men couldn't care less about equality in athletics when it comes to women....unless a relative is involved....
men's gymnastics is as gay as freakin' pairs skaking....
titties IX relative to athletics is something I disliked from day 1....
if one doesn't like that opinion, they can kiss it.....
